Scoliosis is when the spine is S shaped. Physical therapy can help strengthen the muscles around the spine and help elevate (or decrease) future problems. Torticollis and Klippel-Feil syndrome both involve the cervical vertebrae located in her neck. Torticollis is a neurological disorder in that her brain is telling her neck muscle to contract involuntarily. Resulting in the tilting of the head in one direction or the other (front, back, side to side). Klippel-Feil refers to a fused (two vertebrae stuck together) or malformed vertebrae in her neck. I would take the advise of her doctor, sounds like he's being proactive to help the problems involved.

PS All three diagnosis' can be minor, ask you doctor for more info or do a search on google. There is lots of good info out there.

PSS You are always entitled to a second opinion

While the answers above deal well with the physical issues, I think you need to address the emotional issues that YOU have. If you are not comfortable with the doctor, you need to seek a second opinion or find a doctor that you are more comfortable with. While it may not change the diagnosis in any way, it will make whatever is coming up easier for all of you to deal with. PS -- I've had scoliosis for about 55 years now, and am lucky in that it had little to no long term effect -- but it should be addressed as early as possible to keep the effects to a minimum.

All these 3 conditions seem to point to some kind of mis-alignment in your granddaughter's spine/neck/posture. You don't say how old she is and it seems that you need more information. I wouldn't be surprised if the diagnosis doesn't change. I'm sure you love her very much and whatever the problem this won't change.

Scoliosis is the curvature of the spine. If it is serious it can cause problems later in life. Especially pain.
