Is it standard for some businesses to call at exactly 9 AM in the morning? Due to time zone differences, I've had places call me at 6 AM my time. Normally I'm too tired/polite to say anything, but I'd have thought that these places (one was a credit card company verifying my info, another was an insurance company also verifying my info) would see that I live out on the west coast. Although each called me for important reasons, I'd have thought for customer relations they would wait.

What do you say? If it happens again I intend to inform them politely that due to the time difference they've called at 6 AM my time, which is NOT business hours for me! -_-

How terrible! I'd say something like, "Can you please call at a later time?"

My belief is they have to call during your time zone hours, between 9 am and 9 pm. Tell them they are calling too early and to get it right the next time.

What about those online universities calling to "confirm a telephone appointment"? Tell them you have no time, and they say it will only take a few minutes. Give them your available time after work, they say they can't call because that would be evening their time. Let the voice mail answer it. Nnnnh!

depends what your state laws say... most places, its allowed at any time during daylight hours. They are annoying! But you can always block their number, or ask to speak with their supervisor and tell them to remove you from their calling list.

Tell 'em to call back in the afternoon and hang up. That's what I did when I worked until 5am and would get called at 9am.

OR

Shut your ringer off and let the machine get it.

welcome to the adult world kiddo, get used to it.

EDIT: you will see, according to any contract you enter into, that the company has the right to call within business hours.
if 6am your time is 9 am their time, you just have to understand that that IS their business hours.

I'd be TICKED.

You have choices as to who you do business with.

I would mention that to them & hang up.
