Some programs allow you to change that configuration in their "Preferences" or "Options" -- others, it isn't so easy to find. One method you could use is Msconfig.

Click Start, click Run, type Msconfig. On the General tab, click Selective Startup. On the Startup tab, clear the checkbox next to any program that you do not want to start when your computer starts.

Get it from winpatrol.com or download.com
