There has been an increasingly desperate attempt on the part of religion to try to 'prove' what they believe through 'science.' This has been happening more and more since the Age of Reason (Newton et all).

The problem is: articles of faith can not be proven by science. Just as science is not a discipline to be approached with a posture of faith. But the literalists, who believe that the Bible is 'the unerrant Word of God' need to find some way to make everything true. So they take a story that is obviously meant to be taken as an allegory, like Noah's ark, and they apply all kinds of 'science' to things like the finding of the 'ark.' They can then stand back and say, 'See? It all really happened! Therefore, the entire Bible is true, and what we believe is The Truth!'

The problem is, the 'science' is applied to a foregone conclusion, ie: Noah built an ark, loaded up 2 of every kind of animal in it, the entire earth was covered with water, everyone but Noah and these animals survived. If one cannot approach this absurd proposition scientifically, then to leap to a 'scientific' conclusion (ie: the ark was found!) is sadly childish.

Karen Armstrong has written a lot about science and faith in several of her books, namely 'The History of God' and 'The Battle for God.' She makes a very strong case that to approach faith as if it were science, or science as if it were faith is to do a great disservice to both.

There is more than enough room in our lives for both science and faith. But we must never confuse the two. One can make a strong argument that when one confuses faith for science or vice-versa, that's where the bloodshed begins.

The answers on here sure go to show that the atheists self-proclaimed intelligence is way overrated. Cannot believe none of these people watch any documentaries. Of course, I understand your parents probably don't let you guys stay up late enough to watch, but its quite sad. Even NASA has been checking this out for 40 years. Doesn't mean its the ark, but its a possibility which is why they've been checking it out for so long.

There is no conspiracy. They can't get to it because of the ice, and it being surrounded by inhospitable governments. Read the news already.

why are there so many outsized alligators in the NYcity sewer system if nobody ever sees them? Why do people think touching toads gives you warts?
- why are there so many urban legends?
People obviously like to believe odd things.
Maybe just for the memorable story.

Whatever, man. They found some wood in Turkey, that is 100% verifiable proof that Genesis is entirely true.

Because they are desperate for evidence of their clearly ridiculous beliefs.

You would think if it was really found it would be the greatest discovery inthe world.

But I am sure they think it is some atheist conspiracy to keep it under wraps.
