Your hamster might have dull colored eyes. He might lay down a lot or not be able to stand without falling over. it might just act funny from what it normally acts like. I am not sure that standing somewhere for 4 hours really means that he is sick, but if he starts really looking like he is getting sick, or you are worried, you might want to take him to the vet if you can.

I'd like to caution you about leaving your hamster in its ball for that long. As a very tiny creature, hamsters have delicate systems. Staying in a hamster ball in the corner of the room for 4 hours could leave it dehydrated and hungry - not to mention tired! It is supposed to be sleeping through the day- after all!
As for the signs of illness here is an answer from my source:
Sick hamsters often become irritable and frequently bite. They are usually reluctant to move about and walk stiffly when forced to do so. Their eyes often look dull and sunken, and frequently have a discharge. Sick hamsters often stop eating or greatly reduce their intake of food. Consequently, weight loss is a common sign (not necessarily an easy one to recognize) of illness in hamsters. Fluid losses from diarrhea also may cause marked weight loss. Sudden intestinal disease (with accompanying diarrhea) is the most common illness of hamsters, especially among those being weaned or recently weaned. If the serious accompanying dehydration is not recognized immediately and corrected with appropriate fluid therapy at the direction of a veterinarian, death is probable.

hmmm i if they don't run in there ball she might just be scared or sumthin! My hamsters loves his ball! When i have my brother watch him cuz i am cleanin his cage he just sits there but once i come down he starts runnin like crazy following me everywhere! You should take a treat and put it in front of the ball let her sniff it then slowly bring the treat back and she should go after it! If your hamster was sick she might not be eating, drinking, or anything she probqably will just sleep! Is the fur clean and shiny? Is her eyes clear, and is her nose dry? Then she might be sick! I would call a vet! Is your hamster running on the wheel? If you said no to all those questions then your hamster is sick! Call a vet ASAP!!!!!!

That's really weird!! I have two dwarf hamsters and they LOVE their hamster balls! But, i have noticed that after 5-10 minutes they stop moving around in their hamster ball and just sit their in their hamster ball in the corner of the room that they are in. I think that your hamster was just tired. Maybe he had already gone on the hamster wheel that day. It's ok. I doubt that he's sick! If you notice strange behavior in him again, I would recommend calling your vet or your local pet store!

It could just mean she is utterly sick of the ball, it happens.

Does she seem lethargic otherwise? Is she eating? Is she passing normal pellet-like poos? Do her eyes seem bright and as bulgy as normal?! Is her bottom clean? These are all things to watch out for.
