My brother who has had back pain on and off most of his life recently had a facet block shot -four needles of cortizone. A couple of days later he couldn't have anything touch his back. Not so much the pain, but he had a sensation to the touch that he made him feel like he was losing his mind -sort of like a maximum panic attack. Then he had a cortizone epidural, and now he is in very bad shape he can only lay on his stomach or stand. Can't sit, can't lay on his back. I'm very, very worried about him. He's sounds suicidal. This is pain management at it's worse. What can the poor guy do?

These shots have to be perfect in every way, there are many things that can and do, go wrong. I would get him to the ER that gave him the shots, call his doctor and, go from there.

Boy, I would go back to the doctor immediately or see another doctor and get a 2nd opinion. It sounds like the shots were not given correctly or your brother is having a reaction to the cortisone. I have had 1 epidural in the low back and 2 epidurals in different parts of my neck, and the only thing I felt, was a little groggy for a few days. To me, he shouldn't feel that bad, after the procedure, but better. I wish him luck. One more thing...ice might help deaden the pain. It helps me all the time.
