Excellent point. If I wanted to be prayed for, I'd ask for prayers. If I wanted 'God' to 'bless my soul' I'd ask. If I wanted to "find Jesus" I'd seek. Clearly I don't want to be prayed for or 'blessed' since I believe both to be ineffective and I am not spending my life searching out a being that does not exist.

I have found beliefs that make me happy and obviously you have found yours although they differ from mine. What I don't understand is how we (atheists and pagans) are able to respect each others beliefs without pushing them on others but Christians insist on trying to convert us.

You are correct this is the forum for asking questions to receive information. Since you choose to ask questions in the R&S section I presume your questions would have to do with R&S and that you are seeking information on these subjects. People are very passionate and devoted to their beliefs concerning both subjects and therefore their information will at times be more like an attempt to convert someone to their belief or non belief. Sounds to me like it is the presentation of the information that you do not appreciate not the information itself. Sometimes it is the blessings we don't ask for that are the most special.

Exactly, so why are you here? If you don't believe in any religion, and like most atheists, don't believe you have a spirit, there's really no reason for you to be in this section, is there? No one would really try to bless or convert you if you weren't here asking for it.

I've never tried to convert anyone, but common sense, which most of the bashers here don't quite have a grip on, would tell you if you hang out in this section, its just gonna happen. If I go hang out in the craft section, I'm gonna be hearing a lot of wonderful things about crafting, which is why I don't hang out there. All comes back to common sense.

When a person who happens to be a Christian tells you 'bless you' and she means it sincerely, from her heart, without trying to judge you at all, you should not judge her.

If you don't believe that, it's great, but she is not insulting you at all. If she is offering respect maybe you should offer respect back.

There are enough jerks on here we need to appreciate the people who are truly good people regardless of their beliefs.

That's what God wants; for you to ASK for help. And we Christians don't ASK to be mocked and ridiculed all over this section, but we receive it in every question. I don't mean you and I'm not trying to generalize.

I agree. If I should want to convert, I'd ask for help. It's the same way with door to door salesmen. If I want to buy something, I'll seek it out for myself.

I just want to know why their god doesn't try to have a personal relationship with ME? Why does it always have to send some snooty lackey to tell me about it, why can't it do it by itself? How can something so jealous that it calls itself "Jealous" be shy about introducing itself to those that don't think it's there? If it really didn't want us to worship other things, then it would tell us itself, without those annoying 'holier-than-thou' bible thumpers.

By the way, I use that on telemarketers. If they have such a great product or deal, why are they calling me? Why am I not running to them? Same deal with religion.
