Christian.
No, I am actually very against the death penalty.
First of all the American mode of death penalty is awful and the system is so flawed. It's racist, sexist, classist, and not a deterrent to crime, and violates the 8th amendment. America is one of the few 1st world countries that still has the death penalty.
As a Christian I'm against it on moral grounds. Who are we to judge who should live and die? Isn't our primary goal supposed to be showing love to the world?
EDIT: as for Christians who support the death penalty because it's in the Bible, then you have to support it for all the following causes listed in the Bible: strangers entering the temple, proselytizing, adultery, incest, prostitution, bestiality, premarital sex, rape on an engaged woman, kidnaping, cursing parents, careless handling of an animal, stubbornness of children, blasphemy, working on Sunday, ignoring a judge, accidentally killing a pregnant woman, consuming blood, manufacturing anointing oil, not being circumcised, gluttony, excessive drinking, and sexual activity with a woman who is menstruating.
So whould we kill people for working on Sunday? I hope nobody would say yes.

I am a Christian. I don't believe in the death penalty. Frankly, I don't believe it does any good. It hasn't proved to deter people from committing murder. It hasn't proved that it keeps our society any safer. It doesn't bring back the person that was killed. It sends a mixed message to children because we tell them not to hit back on the playground, yet that is exactly what the government is doing. It is just another form of revenge and I am against revenge.

I don't have a faith. I base my beliefs on evidence.
I do not believe that the death penalty is desirable, because humans are too error prone. Studies have shown that with the death penalty many innocent people are executed. At least with life imprisonment mistakes can be reversed.

Pentecostal... I believe some people deserve the death penalty but I would never vote for it because I believe only God has the right to take a life.

Yes.
I believe if you intentionally and maliciously take a life without provocation, then you forfeit your own.
However, I have serious issues with the justice system in the United States and how the death penalty is meted out. I think the justice system needs an overhaul so that the goal of trial is to discover the TRUTH, not see who can manipulate the system the best.

I'm a Christian. I am against the death penalty, because I believe it is inhumane, from a faith perspective, and from a general perspective as well.

I am a believer in the Christian faith.
I am 50/50 on the death penalty.
Because there are some that don't deserve it. The ones that do are the certain habitual offenders. But i'm not a lawmaker either.

Atheist,
Yes.
Because death is the ultimate penalty for taking away another persons only chance at life.
Without enforcing consequences for behavior that is so final, we let the actions of wasted individuals go unpunished.
Life in Jail is a waste of time, you are really just killing them slowly, and ultimately being much crueler than ending their existence with a shot of goodbye juice.

I have no faith or belief.
I do not consider the death penalty to be morally acceptable. The Hippocratic Oath requires the preservation of life from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death.

yes of course. God said kill murderers and these things will cease to happen among you. "Think not that I am come to destroy the LAW..Murderers are in danger of the judgment/lake of fire" "thou shall do no MURDER" not kill...to lie in wait to kill. different than killing a piece of trash.
how many times will a 10 year old girl be abducted raped and murdered if those pieces of dirt were executed on televsion pay per view??? the next piece of scum would think twice about it and maybe spend some money on a prostitute.
and there is no such thing as "too many innocent" executed. That is a LIE from the lefties that love to defend rapists and murderers. with DNA evidence now there is no doubt in most cases. review them all, set the innocent free and fry the rest like they deserve. their victims are waiting at their trial. and it ain't on earth.
