I ve had various answers saying either running is better or that swimming is better. Lucky for me I have a pool in my backyard so swimming is no problem. Also I can run on my road. Im trying to lose weight and get abs by August, so any ideas on which is better for burning off the belly fat?

ok- depending on your posture would ultemitley determine what is right for you. there are many people on the road that just cant run properly( they slouch). but if you were to swim- you really cant get in a 'wrong' position- plus it gives you an ALL OVER workout.....as much as i am for runnung- i think swimming would get you the results your looking for

Keeping the same exercise everyday lets your muscles get used to it. Why don't you run one day then swim the next! Or make some routine for switching them out. Good luck!

Running is definitely great especially when trying to get your stomach down (sit ups build muscle) but swimming is more of a whole body work out. You should a little of both.

I'd have to go with swimming. But if you are trying to get abs, you'll need more than just exercise. You need to eat right. You can exercise and do ab exercising until the cows come home, if you don't eat right you will never see your ab muscles.

I personally think it would be swimming. It uses all parts of your body plus it has less pressure on your feet and knees. You can do all kinds of exercises in the pool that would be great for you.

Running and walking use the same amount of calories per mileage covered. [ same calories for one mile, but you can cover a lot more ground running instead of walking ].
Go to www.primusweb.com, type in your weight, and get calories used for all kinds of activities.
