That statement comes from physical observation of the incompletely developed embryo..., it appears to be female in that developmental stage. The necessary hormone isn't added YET. God and the spirit to inhabit that body decides the sex of the person with some prayer input from the father and mother.
Adam was the first "man" of mankind and he was "in the image of God" and whole and complete and the 'boy' was visual and lonely not 'getting it' that he was whole and complete and his feminine principle was indeed IN THERE...
I say it like this: He couldn't access his heart and sensitive and more passive side very well, so God put him to sleep and took his 'female' parts out and put his "heart" in his face. They were still Adam, but He then called his mate Eve. He could hold and touch and SEE her. God is neither male or female, but whole and complete with all aspects of both inside Himself. So was Adam, he just didn't realize it since the animal kingdom was in his face as two parts to be a mate outside them.
SHE is HE and always was but now it is by attraction and choice.
By the way, if there is anything going on in a man's wife's life that he don't like, it was in his heart first!

I tell you again, there is no god and no deity created the first of what you know as humans. We evolved from a branch of primates into a branch of the Australopithecus and the evolution continued from there. The folk characters Adam & Eve are imaginary fable characters in a book called "The Bible". The book is published by christians for christians and is in no way to be interpreted as being real or true. This is one of the primary reasons the christians spend so much money trying to prove the existance of a god and scientists no longer waste their time with the issue.

how are we females in the womb? It's the sperm that determines the sex. The egg is not human until it's fertilized, so it doesn't have a sex. And if Adam and Eve really existed then they weren't created like everyone else, that's why. Personally I believe in evolution. I think Genesis was written as a love poem, and was not meant to be taken 100% literally.

Adam and Eve were CREATED by God. Everyone else since then has been BORN. I'm not knowledgeable about genetics and biology but birth is indeed a miracle. Anyone who looks at a newborn baby with all it's little perfect parts can see that there is a God.

Um....are you taking the whole Adam and Eve stuff literally? what you're talking about is a biological concept. the story of Adam and Eve isn't meant to explain or provide proof for any biological phenomenon such as this.

Because the Bible isn't always literal. Imagine, if you will, being God. The Lord himself, and being charged with the task of explaining how you created the cosmos to people who don't even understand the world around them. You wouldn't be able to explain evolution or natural selection outright to them, because then you ruin the inate pleasure of human scientific discovery. So instead you break it down for them in ways they can understand. And you simplify EVERYTHING. You don't tell them about nuclear fusion and huge burning balls of hydrogen, you tell them that God said let there be light, and there was, because they can handle that. Now with the benefit of millenia of intellectual development, we can look back on our origins and extrapulate some kind of scientific reasoning behind them, we didn't have that advantage two thousand years ago.

I haven't read the Jewish books, but its possible it was different when Lilith showed up. She was before Eve, and objected to Adam always being on top, so she left him. I don't know if the creation thing was different with her or not.

Adam and Eve = Singular
Adam = Soul
Eve = Universal Mind Power (part of soul)
Cain = Higher Mind (part of soul)
Abel = Lower Mind (part of soul)
The book of Genesis is the symbolic account of mankind's fall from grace and paradise lost. "Adam and Eve" were not real people. "They" represented soul and how soul came to descend from the kingdom of heaven.
