My dog does not have bloody stools, but she is pooping straight, bright red blood.
Somehow she ate a coffee filter with coffee in it yesterday morning but she threw up most of the coffee filter, and no more filter has come through the stools.
Is there anything I can do to help her?
We can't get her to a vet untill friday! We have absolutely no money to spend on a vet visit.
What food should I feed her, (the vet suggested one pepto bismol tablet every 6 hours) are there any random household cures I can try?
Please help me out here, I'm really scared for my dog, she's the only friend I have and I don't know what I'd do if something happeneed to her.
Thank you so very much,
Sheena

Thank you so much for the help.
She ate about 3-4 tablespoons of already brewed coffee grounds.
That is what freaked me out. I thought they were fresh, hence me worrying about caffiene toxicity.
I will give her some rice and some boiled hamburger meat and make sure she drinks plenty, along with giving her the pepto bismol the vet reccommended.
Thanks!!!!!

Bright red blood is fresh blood. It is an emergency and cannot wait until Friday. I would ask your vet if he will take a post dated check, but if he knows the symptoms and only recommended pepto, I wouldn't trust him with my dog. You didn't mention the age of the dog, or if she is current on vaccinations? It could be several things, and none of them are good. First thing that comes to mind is Parvo. Then internal bleeding. No matter what it is, she will bleed to death before Friday. I don't think the coffee filter has anything to do with the bleeding though unless she had an ulcer that you did not know about and it irritated it and caused it to bleed.

Why am I even explaining all this?? You should have her at the vet by now if you care at all and want her to live.

I'm sorry. Exactly how much coffe was there in the filter? The coffe has caffeine. CAFFEINE WILL CLEAN SILVER UNTIL SHINING, AND IF LEFT FOR 2 DAYS, IT WILL DESINTEGRATE IT!!! So now, imagine how your poor dog's intestine might be.

Start by doing the next things; Give her Pepto Bismol as you have been doing so far, if you are not able to get her those, then I suggest you try the next things;

Feed her warm white rice, and also some meat balls. All of this must be warm and not left outside for too much time. Rememeber, rice will spoil easily.

Due to the fiber in the white rice it will help to mend almost anything in your dog's intestines.

Has she been drinking water? If she hasn't drunk any water, then try to freeze some in ice cubes and give them to her. If you are able to, you should run and get some flavored serum, it doesn't matters if its for humans, the basic functions are the same--- keep her hydrated. If you are able to get the serum the flavors that dog like the most are apple and cherry.

If you are not able to do this, I woud recommend you to give her some apple juice, or some flavored water, such as apple, watermelon, etc. The flavor in this will help her to drink more, and therefore keep her hydrated. You should keep her inside your house and have her sleeping in your room, or next to you- This will help you to keep an eye over her, and notice if she starts whining or something happens to her.

Please feed her food that will be gentle in a dog's stomach. If you don't want to bother making her yourself some, then I would recommend Eukanuba or Pro Plan. If you are willing to bother yourself and make her some, feed her mostly white rice, but it shouldn't have any sauce or anyhthing else on it, if you can or want, maybe some veggies in it. Also, some meat balls, maybe a bit of warm meat, but absolutely no sauce or additives or preservatives. No lemon or citrics should be given to her.

Please, make sure you are with her at all times, and that she is in your house. This will help you and her a lot, she may become nervous or something if outside. Also, due to how she is right now, she could be attacked by other dog or animal. Please, make sure she is comfy at all times, and she must not be left alone, her life may depend on it!!!

If her condition worsens, which I hope doesn't happen you can email me or take her to the vet asap. I know you may not afford it, but maybe the vet can understand it. If you need any more help, e mail me at any time!!!

If you need any more help or data, please don't doubt to email me to brbnryn@yahoo.com

Ok no matter how much it costs this dog is in desperate need of the vet. Maybe the vet can work out a payment plan with you but she needs to get in Friday might be too late. At least call the vet and see what they say they can't charge you to talk on the phone. Otherwise go to the SPCA if there is one by you and see what they can do. I hope your dog is all right.

I Think your Dog Has Lung tumors almost always present this way along with coughing. It could also be allergies and irritants causing minor bleeding. Heartworm also comes to mind. You have not indicated if there was a lot of blood, or blood tinged mucous. We also have no idea what age or breed the dog is, if you have him her on heartworm meds, if you played catch with a stick today, and history of heart issues, etc. Anyway, the point is that coughing up blood is not normal and you need to take the dog to the vet ASAP. You Are Very Careless To It,You sucks!!!

Don't feed her anything. You should really get this dog to a Vet immediately or you could end up having her die on you This is serious.. Give her plenty of water so that she doesn't get dehydrated.
Probiotic yoghurt might help her.

Is there an Animal Hospital near you? Someone needs to see her. She might need to go on a drip.

It really is no use asking for advice here. She needs professional advice.

This can't be guessed at over the net. Call your nearest shelter or rescue and ask for help getting your dog to a vet. There are some assitance sites on the net, but you have an emergency. Call your vet and tell them what's going on. Beg. Your dog needs help now!

I am sorry, but the vet is your only hope. If you say she is your only friend, cut down from your food or sth. and take her to the vet. Borrow from a friend, or just tell the vet this is an emergency and you will pay on Friday. I am afraid that if you wait until then, the dog will either be fine or dead. The second is more likely, if she poops blood.

you should be very scarred. Bright red blood is a bad, bad sign. She needs to go to the vet ASAP. I would take her to an emergency vet clinic and worry about the money later. Your pup has a very real chance of death. This is not good.

Take your dog to the vet now! If you can only afford it after Friday, believe me, the vet will understand. They will wait for you to pay Friday. But your dog might not make it that long. You have to take her right away. No matter what. She may have punctured her intestines.

I am not trying to be mean but have you tried to call teh vet and explain your problem???
Some vets will see teh dog and have you make a post dated check.
this sounds serious enough to try and you may even want to call around and see if you can find one.
As I said I'm not tryingto be mena but that's all I can think of.
