Does the navy run your credit to see if you can join? I was trying to join the airforce and my credit is holding me back due to the fact that i have some hospital bills? Does the Navy require a credit check as well for active duty?

Background checks always include a credit check.

The basic idea is that someone with poor credit or other financial problems is going to be more vulnerable to bribery or blackmail.

This stance is ironic considering how many soldiers have families collecting food stamps.

Hi! Yes, they all run credit checks. But the AF recruiter should have told you how you can get a waiver. My husband had one credit card that he was behind on and they told us all we had to do was contact the creditor, make payment arrangements and then give the recruiter a letter stating that payment arrangements had been made and stating the name and telephone number of the person we spoke with. The letter was then submitted by the recruiter to get a waiver. Of course I don't know how large your bill is. Our's was only $150. My husband's been in the almost 4 years now and we love it! The Navy will probably require the same thing to get a waiver.

Good Luck!

All military branches will run your credit. Talk to your recruiter about what you can do to join.
