Blackheads are clogged pores. Dead skin cells trap oil in the pores. The oil gets old & turns black.

Prevention is the key to avoiding blackheads. Exfoliate daily by using a mild scrub or a wash cloth. I like Aveeno Positively Radiant Face Cleansing Pads. These pads have a textured side to scrub off dead skin cells and a smooth side for delicate areas. The pads are soaked w/ a gently cleanser that is good for combination/sensitive skin.

Murad's AHA/BHA face wash is good but a bit pricey. A little goes a long way though. It's best for slightly oily skin.

Avon's Microdermabrasion Scrub is really good. I like to use it once or twice a week. This scrub has small round granules that slough off dry skin w/o scratching & it rinses off easily.

If you have oily skin, Neutrogena's Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask is good. It has benzoyl peroxide to kill germs & clay to absorb excess oil. It works best as a mask.

Professional steam or deep pore cleansing facials are very good but pricey. You can also DIY - here's how: http://www.ehow.com/how_2564_give-yourself-facial.html

Beauty w/o Cruelty clay mask & Origins Charcoal mask are good to use for a facial.

Here's an article about the causes of & cures for blackeads: http://www.cosmeticscop.com/learn/art.asp?ID=202

A few home remedies from makeupalley.com:

You can crush up 6 plain, uncoated aspirin tablets and mix it w/ a little water to make mask. Or you can mix half a teaspoon of crushed, uncoated aspirin tablets with Queen Helene Mint Julep mask or aloe vera gel to use as a mask.

For toner: 8 ounce bottle of distilled water add four uncoated, crushed aspirin
OR
mixture of 1/2 water, 1/2 witch hazel, 15 uncoated, crushed aspirin, and 2 drops of tea tree essential oil and 2 drops of rosemary essential oil

If you aren't already on the pill, you'd be surprised at what wonders it will work for your skin. Ask your gynecologist or your dermatologist about it.

Otherwise, your diet and exercise will largely affect your skin. Think veggies and fruit rather than pizza and fries. Think water instead of Coke. Also, if you have lots of black heads, know that hot water opens pores and cold water closes them. heating your skin with a steaming towel before removing black heads is a good idea. Use chilled water to close up your pores when you are done.

Good luck.

Don't apply makeup or foundation with your fingers, even if you have just washed them, because they can still carry a lot of bacteria. Use disposable sponges when you put on foundation, or if you can't afford them, I have found cotton balls to be very cheap and affective. Ever since I stopped putting makeup on with my fingers/hands, I've had less problems with blackheads, etc. I hope that helps! Good luck!

use neurtragina skin care products and that can help alot. use acne-free stuff. dont pur your dirty hands on your face or your hands to your face at all because that can get zits, pimples, black/white heads. if u have to put yuor hands to your face make sure their extra clean.
