I'm from New England, and saw a strange animal in my yard earlier this morning. It had very long legs (similar to a Canadian Lynx-do a google search for it) but it had a very long and mangy tail (unlike many of the wild cats indiginous to my area). It's ears were triangular, but I couldn't get a good look at it's face. It was also much bigger than an average cat but smaller than a large dog. It's not a bobcat, fischer cat or a lynx, because their tales are shorter and this animal's tail was long and fell kind of like a lion's.

Any help or suggestions as to what this animal might be would be extremely helpful.

Could be a feral Maine Coon cat.

There have actually been a lot of articles coming out lately about Big Cats that are being seen in odd places. Some may be wild large cats, like Cougars, that were kept as personal pets. When they got too big, some owners would release them into the woods. They may also be part of something that is for now being categorized under Cryptozoology.
