I lift weights every other day. Now I am deciding to run for 40 minutes at 6mph (4 miles) and the last 3 minutes I run at 10mph. This I do when the days that I am not lifting. Is this a good idea and will it build even more muscle/gain more weight?

You're developing different kinds of muscle fibers when you either run or do weights. There are fast-twitch fibers, which tend to look whitish, while slow-twitch fibers which you can get from long distance running look red. And there's the mixed fast-slow type which is something you develop from doing weights, depending on how you do it. But you won't bulk up on the slow-twitch fibers from running, so I wouldn't worry about it. If you want the white muscle, check into plyometrics.

What kind of muscle you want depends on what are your objectives. Do you just want to look like a bodybuilder, or do you want to do extreme sports? It's very hard to do both, because the muscles involved are incompatible.

Running helps make you lose weight and get smaller, so if you want to have the 300 look you should not run that much but the more muscle you have the harder it is to run fast or if you want to be tone like spider man(first movie) i would say keep up what u are doing. ^^

Yes it will. Working out your legs, which are the largest muscles in your body, will increase muscle development throughout your entire body. Running and sprinting are good leg workouts however, you can accomplish the same thing by doing leg workouts such as squats and lunges.

Not too much, but it does help the muscles look bigger, by reducing all body fat on the rest of your body.

Good luck!

I don't think running builds more muscle, but it would burn fat, causing more lean-ness and definition in your muscle tone.
