The era of King Louis XIV, or Louis Quatorze, 1643 - 1715, marked the definite end of the Renaissance period in France and the beginning of a series of distinct period furniture styles, the first being the Baroque.

I'm assuming it was made somewhere in France, given that it was made for a French monarch. As to time period, between 1638 and 1715.
