You don't want to do this. We did but, the guy bragged about being in the Navy. We were out of Port Austin, about 15 miles and he got sick, I mean the "wish I was dead" sick, hanging over the side type sick.
We had just started hooking big Cohos and some Lakers, they started hitting good.
We of course had to go in before he died. We did talk about how we'd explain his death if we kept fishing but, he was a relative so?

First go to the docks and make it clear your looking for work. Your probably going to be put on some crummy job like scraping barnacles off of boats, at first. You are going to have to prove you want to be there, and you can handle the work. You can always ask for more to do and then you get to know the boat operators/owners. You need to built yourself a reputation if you really want this kind of work. They don't want slackers.

Abalone_girl has it right but do remember this is very hard work!
Long hours and very little sleep dangerous work that builds character with a nice pay check!
