I tried asking my boss (I have 2) and he said it would take him less time to do it than explain it to me. I dont mind trival things but they don't even give me that. I complete my work quickly. I don't want to ask too often or it might give off the wrong impression.

I'm doing this while at work because they aren't giving me enough to do. Probably as long as you ask around and there is nothing for you to do, personal stuff is fine. (Just be sure that you can jump to whatever they need you to do for "work"!)

If you truly have nothing to do, and nobody else in your office needs help, then I think it's perfectly fine to pay bills, play games online, etc. However, if you have a non-urgent project that you've been putting off forever because the work is tedious, or your filing is piling up, etc., you should probably do that before you take care of personal business.

That reminds me of Office Space...you're not being challenged. Kindly let your boss know that you having nothing to do at all and would like some sort of work, however trivial. You should never be bored at work.

I think that its fine as long as your boss doesnt mind. If he or she does mind then respect their wishes and keep away from personal work while there

Ask your boss about the work guidelines. Usually, it isn't allowed so I think it is better to be safe than sorry.

If your boss doesn't "give" you work to do, make sure there's ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do in the office, (in other words - ask any coworkers if they need help with anything, etc) then it'd be okay.

Perfectly reasonable. It would be better than just staring off into space or pretending to work.
