They voted for the cloture.
I have already emailed them.
I have already informed them that my husband and I will be volunteers in the campaign of their next election opponent if they proceed to pass this flawed bill.

Nothing., I am waiting to see if the bill passes the Senate. All this vote, a cloture vote, does it bring the bill to the floor. If it dies after that, they can say, we tried and it failed. If it did not make it past cloture, all you would hear from both sides, is no one wants to really debate the issues in the bill So let them argue and then vote on the bill itself, then make a decision.
Edited:
People, they have not voted on the bill yet, my gosh!!!! All they have done is vote on debating the bill on the floor. The previous votes were to vote it to the entire floor, not even the bill itself. All they had been doing was to vote to be able to bit*h about the bill some more. BTW has anyone here actually read the bill, or are you relying on the pundits to think for you? I've read it. It's not perfect, but is closes some of the loopholes that existed from 1987 & 1997, while trying to solve the problems the previous loop holes created. We have to start somewhere.
The bill includes border enforcement, increasing the number of border patrol agents, detention centers, reinforcing a fence, national strategy for border security, including ports of entry.
Section 202 of the pending bill deas with the detention and removal of aliens ordered removed.
Section 203 deals with the removal of aliens who commit a felony
Section 204 deals with the inadmissibility & deportability of ANY gang members, whether gang was from overseas or here.
Section 205 deals with deportation of aliens who are charged and convicted of child abuse, domestic abuse, stalking, violating restraining orders, drunk driving, perjury, firearms offenses.
I could go on but it is time people start reading for themselves instead of relying on pundits like Pat Buchanan, Lou Dobbs, Sean Hannity etc to do your thinking for you.
The last time I checked, the meaning of the word amnesty has not changed in the dictionary and what is proposed is not free, it will cost them lots of money to legalize themselves.
to apply for residency
application fee $325.00- I-130 form (this is just for the Department of Justice to approve that to say they are eligible to apply for a green card)
For work permit $180.00
Adjustment of status $325.00 form I-485 which adjusts their status to legal alien with a "green card" number
For this "path to citizenship they are proposing"
For every year they were here which they will have to prove and they have had to have been here by a specific cut off date
1) The bill wants to have them pay BACK TAXES ( this might be removed)
2) they have to pay a fine of about $5,000 ( might get lowered to $2,000)
3) Retaining an immigration attorney to do paperwork alone is about $1,500- $3,000
total so far:- $7,330-$8,830 and this does not count the back taxes.
As of August 1,2007, the application fees will triple so.....
$1,010 I-130
$ 340 work permit
$1,010- I -485
total $8,860-$10,360. This does not even factor in an application for a child under the age of 14 which would add an additional $600 or an adult parent such as a grandmother over the age of 79 which would add an additonal $930 not the mention those BACK TAXES. All told if it is a family of 4 2 adults, 2 kids their bill alone would $17,420-$18,920
If this is amnesty, then we need to contact, Merriman-Webster, American Heritage and Cambridge dictionaries since the meaning of the word has changed.

Thanks for the info - Since I already call & fax regularly, I will get everyone I know to call.
As the details come out about this bill its popularity goes down - its at 22% now and thats probably about the number of people who have some faith and believe their senators.
Educate everyone you know - it WILL help.
EDIT: thequeenreigns above me makes several assumptions about this AMNESTY bill as though the penalties & fees constitute an apt punishment. She needs to understand several facts.
1. Almost assuridly, any fees will likely be waived in whole or part for most illegals under the guise of humane, treatment.
2. These fees should cover all cost associated with the gigantic beauracracy needed to oversee, research, do background checks, monitor, etc the process of legalization. So even if they pay thouasands it is likely that the rest of us taxpayers will be subsidizing these operations.
3. They will never be required to pay all of the back taxes owed, nor should those back taxes be considered punishment. I pay taxes, you pay taxes and we are not being punished, are we?

McCain is from Arizona and he voted yes in favor of the bill.
Arizona - the State with the highest border crossings!
That is insane -and John McCain is the one who designed most of the bill, which is even more crazy!
These are very troubled times we are living in!
This is a true nightmare - its almost like they want the end of America!
Everything they are doing is furthering the destruction of our Nation and insuring our continued bankrupt status!
What is even more scary is that they promised to fix our National security after 9/11 and everything they are doing is just the opposite!
How is amnesty without securing our borders a good thing?
God help us all!

Some that voted to breath new life did so with no intention of actually voting for it. Another smoke screen.

My stinking Senators for WI both voted Yea, stinking pieces of trash. Makes me want to go break some laws protecting illegals, why not, the law is as worthless as the peoples opinions.
All our elected officials do is vote according to which ever group can do them favors, not by what the people want, it is not democracy.
By myself I can do nothing but talk, when America has finally had enough, I will be ready.

My 2 morons voted yea. Obama and Durbin. Come election time hopefully thier sorry butts will be gone. I've written tons of letters and called and they aren't listening to the people. They are still on this "our economy will collapse" routien.
My next move is to move out of this god forsaken state. They can have it. Taxes are sky-rocketing and I'm not helping these idiots fund this invasion anymore. They can have their sanctuary city and gangs and corruption.

Both of our elected morons voted for cloture.
What will I do?
Vote them both out of office. Anyone looking for a job that is against illegal immigration please apply in New Mexico. You'll win. We're about to have 2 very empty seats to fill.
