I am installing an intercom/music system in my home and I need to know what's the best way to power the two transformers in it. I will be installing the master station by a light switch but the light switch is on the other side of the stud (not new construction). Any pointers as to where I can draw the power from and how to go about it? Thank you for your help.

The light switch won't have both the "hot" and "neutral" usually, so you probably can't power it from there anyway.

The best (and easiest) way is to locate the devices directly above an existing power outlet. Remove the outlet and add romex wire to the unused push in connectors on back or unused screws on the side. Then cut your hole for wall mount intercom or add an electrical box next to your surface mount intercom. I have added counter height outlets this way.

Fish the romex up to the electrical box, connect to a duplex outlet and now you have a place to plug in your transformer. If you want all of this hidden, it will probably have to be inside of a metal box to meet codes, so check your local codes.
