Some do care:
Dr. James Dobson, in his book Solid Answers, says this concerning invitro fertilization:
I believe most conservative Christians would agree this practice is morally indefensible from a biblical perspective. On the other hand, I feel that in vitro fertilization is less problematic when the donors are husband and wife—IF all the fertilized eggs are inserted into the uterus (i.e., no ova are wasted or disposed of after fertilization and no selection process by doctors or parents occurs.) As the woman's body then accepts one (or more) eggs and rejects the others, the process is left in God's hands and seems to violate no moral principles.

Why is it always Christians? Do atheists, Baptists, Catholics, Lutherans, or just unbelievers of anything ever do something that society deems wrong? It is always about Christians! Christians aren't' the only people on this planet! I am a Christian and I don't like any of it!!!! It is all wrong! There are many other ways to research this issue without harming an unborn fetus. And the last I checked, the fertility clinics don't waste embryos! My good friend had a serious problem having children and we learned a lot about these clinics, and to my knowledge this isn't how it works. They don't just throw them away. And Christians is a whole group of people, thats a lot of people with their own minds and opinions. Hard to speak for so many people. I speak for myself, it is all wrong!!!!!!!!

To be consistent, they should look at embryo destruction at fertility clinics the same way they look at embryo destruction at stem cell labs.
I'm guessing they aren't concerned with the former as much because all the embryos at the clinic are created in the hopes that they will become a baby? But surely they would know that such a high volume of embryos can't all be used.

Many people do not know that thousands (est, 400,000) of embryos are warehoused in fertility clinics. Only 2.8% of these unused embryos are signed over for use in research, 2.2% are signed off to be destroyed and 88.2% are held in storage, being earmarked for "family building" although the large majority of these embryos are forgotten and ultimately will be destroyed when they could be put to use in research for the benefit of humanity after being created in the first place because of someone's vanity and or tenacity about the need to procreate.
That said, creating stem cell lines from human embryos is not particularly efficient and the research has been plagued with false starts and glitches related to biological irregulaties, mutations, and other quirky things that come with playing with mother nature. Some researchers are looking into ways of creating stem cells from cells other than those harvested from embryos. The problem is they need govt funding but the govt is reluctant to touch anything having to do with stem cell research because of pressure from religious groups (who form a minority of the general US population but are particularly vociferous about societal issues). Stem cell research is going overseas and this will impact the future of science and technology (and the economy) in the US.

Well.... I guess if someone wants to lump all Christians together then it would make sense why they don't truly understand their way of thinking. I'm very much Christian, but I'm all for stem cell research.
So to answer your question..logically.... Christians [in your way of thinking] don't even condone fertility treatments so why would they care what happens to the embryo's there? The Christians you are referring to would never approve of a child conceived in any other means than completely natural.
