I don't get wrapped up too much in what people call it. I do think that the folks who try so hard to make it politically correct can take it to extremes of silliness, but on the other hand I'm not going to picket or boycott a store that won't use the word "Christmas" in its advertising. In both cases, those who protest seem to have way too much free time.
I have a calendar in my home and know when to celebrate the seasons of the Church year. If my grandkids have a Christmas break or a Holiday break or, for that matter, a Winter Solstice break, it doesn't change how we observe Advent, Christmas, or Epiphany.

Well, since not all children will be celebrating Christmas over the break, it would be a misnomer to call it Christmas Break (unless perhaps it was a Christian or Santa Clausian school). Even to call it Holiday Break could be incorrect, as not everyone celebrates ANY holidays. Winter Break would be the most appropriate, unless of course you are in the southern hemisphere, where it would be summer.

Well, there's more than one holiday during that time in December, what's so special about Christmans that it's the only one that's mentioned?
And not all Christians celebrate Christmas during that particular break. It makes sense to call it something other than Christmas break.

Well the official holiday recognized by the government is called "Christmas" so I don't have a personal problem with it but I do understand and respect the people who do. I wouldn't really care if it was changed to "Holiday Break."

It has always been Christmas break, because that's when school gets out. Seriously, it's only Holiday Break because some people are too cowardly to call it what it really is.
Does the government take off for Holiday Break, or do they take Christmas Break off?
On your scheduled days off, for national observances, is it Holiday, or is it Christmas?

Whether they call it winter break, holiday break, or Christmas break, it is the same thing-everyone gets a break to celebrate Christmas however they see fit-either as the birth of Christ or an orgy of gifts and drunken partys.

silly primoa - you know as well as i do that "christmas" comes from the pagan holiday of yule. (just like most of christianity)
i think "winter break" should be what it's called, or december break, since we have march break. some people don't celebrate any holidays at that time

Why make it religious? It's a winter break. We all know that Jesus was not borne in December and that there is nothing "holy" about the celebrations that take place during this time.

Yet another pagan celebration put forth by the State and School system as a "Holiday"
Jesus was probably born between August and October, when the shepherds would still have been out watching their flocks by night.

well, holiday break is better than winter break in my opinion. i can understand if they want to not call it Christmas break, but i think it would be good to acknowledge that there are holidays!
