After the great flood of Noah's time, how long did it take the kangaroos to swim all the way back to Australia? I have never seen them swim before, so did they just do it that one time and then forget how to do it?

They beat the Three-toed sloths that swam to South America by three weeks.

The Kangaroo's cheated! Noah stuffed their pouches with granola bars and power fuel.

They didn't have to swim.

It's a serious misconception that ALL the world's humans and animals died in the flood. Although it was a world wide flood, there were others survivors.

The story of Noah is the only story concerning the flood that is important to the history of Judaism and Christianity and therefore it's the only story in the Bible. There are, however, literally hundreds of flood stories around the world. Practically every culture, past and present has a flood story. My belief is that the flood was a global event but not everyone, or everything, was destroyed. In the Biblical account, it says that all living things perished that were on the earth...but...the Hebrew word that is translated as "earth" is "erets" which can mean anything from your back yard to the whole earth, or anything in between. In addition, the bible doesn't waste words so rather than saying "all life on the earth was destroyed, except for a few kangaroos in Australia and some bears and coyotes in North America etc.", we're only given the information that was important to the story.

By the way, if you're wondering HOW they survived...the Bible says that all the mountains were covered but the word mountain comes from the Hebrew word har which means a mountain or range of hills. So, it's probably a mistranslation. All the hills were covered but not all the mountains. Humans and animals mostly survived by getting to high ground although there are other "Noah type" stories around the world suggesting that Noah wasn't the only one to have an ark...he's just the only one mentioned in the Bible...and other humans and animals survived this way.

Oh, ho! But take care, or a devout Fundy will invent an answer: maybe god had an angel pick the kangaroos up and transport them back to Australia (which isn't mentioned in the bible)--yes, that's what happened! It says so in the bible! Don't you read the bible, you atheist, you devil, you satanist? Now, about the buffalo...and the alligator...and the llama...and the...er, well, it was god's will. With a snap of his fingers...does god have fingers...well, no matter...with a snap of his fingers god gathered all of the millions of creatures, including bugs and reptiles and fish and birds, and away they sailed for 40 days and 40 nights. Now, what about the Loch Ness monster...and giant whales...and sharks and Santa's raindeer...and...and...

And why did every one do so? Wouldn't it have made sense that some of them would have hung out in India, Turkey, or Bangladesh? And isn't it a bit difficult for an 80 pound animal to swim 2000 miles back to an island?

It seems that Kangaroos (and Koalas and Wallabies) are the Fundamentalists' nightmare.

Actually, it is not generally known, but kangaroos can inflate their pouches.

After the flood they hopped to Southeast Asia, inflated their pouches, and floated on their backs around New Guinea until they reached their former homes in Australia.

Koala bears did the same.

There is no answer to this question. If Australia was still connected to the mainland, there would be kangaroos all over, if it wasn't connected, then how did they get back to Australia?

Noah didn't go all the way to Australia to put kangaroos on the ark. What you mention is a mystery.

After debating the idiocy that is the flood story with a Christian for approximately 15 minutes, they will eventually admit the truth:

They believe in magic. And Noah's story was a magic story. They will (after much crying and gnashing of their teeth) eventually admit that the story is completely ridiculous and impossible.

And that is usually about the time that they will explode in anger at your "ignorance" and run away before you prove the bible false again. (They run away because they realize how silly they sound admitting that god's "magic" made everything work)
