So I was thinking the other day about how weird the English language is and slang in general.
Take the word Baby, can be used as a term of endeerment.
Shorten it to Babe, and you're describing a cute person.
Add an L and you get Babel. Which is the worst movie ever made.

I was so mad after watching it that I instantly went outside and starting stepping on ants. I had just had to get revenge on something after that. So the next day there's this guy at work right.. I guess I shouldn't be mean cause he has that disease. You know the one where you're head is permantly up your ***, I guess it's hereditery.

I say to him, "Dude, Babel, you gotta watch that movie. It'll change your life, oh and Brad Pitt. Amazing"
"Yeah? Ok, I'll probably see it tonight."

Next day he comes in and tells me how much he hated the movie. And I'm like, "What, wait, did you get the categorical sylogism in that scene-blah blah blah."
"um... yeah.. yeah I got that."

No, you didn't, watch it again

English = weird

This would make a good comic strip. I can see it now, 2 guys standing up in their cubes talking to each other.

If you are male you are tall, thin, hair is a little shaggy, a bit of a slacker but a decent employee and do ok with the girls. If you are female, you are short with black hair and black glasses, dressed in black and you smoke cigs.

Your friend is tall, fat, short brown hair gelled close to the head, possibly wearing glasses. Never had a girlfriend. Lives with his mom.

A great play on words would be if the two of you are british (english = weird). Not that brits are weird, Im just saying for the comic.

anyways English is kinda sloppily put together ,but if you actually do some researching alto of words beggin to actually make some sense. many words are compounds of words . eg,hypocrite -hypo=below ,beneath + crite= criterion,critical, critique,critic this words basically a person who says stuff about something and really has no clue ,kinda like what you said about English.you asked.

I would like to see that movie in order to answer this question. So far for English everyone understands it better than any language on this earth and it is easily understood by all creation.
