What are the difference in 3 way and 5 way speakers?

I just bought some rear deck 6 x 9 5 way kenwood speakers. My dad said I needed midrange. If it helps any I have subs, so I need something to compliment them.

Remember, if it 2 way there only two speakers. Odd Numbers like a 5 way would have 4 regular speakers and a Sub-Woofer or Deep Bass.

You have a Bass, Mid-Range and Tweeter.

So. If you have 4 speakers to make it 5 way you need a Sub? This my guessing. A Deep Thumper Bass.
