Yummy strawberry cake sounds delicious... but i would not advice you to bake the berries IN the cake. They would get musshy and would not taste fresh...What i would recommend is for you to bake the cake according to directions, cooling it and then once it is cooled half it and then put the fresh halved strawberries in it...it would taste so much better...i promise...oh and if you wanted to frost it simple whipped cream will do the trick... hope this helps.

When you put fresh strawberries in cakes/ muffins they kind of go soggy and not as nice as using blueberries because they don't have the same solid sort of skin. I would either put some sugar, water and tiny bit of vanilla (option strawberry conserve/jam) into a saucepan for 5 mins and make a quick syrup then when cooled slightly pour over the strawberries to soften slightly and put in as a filling with some strawberry jam Or I'd make fresh strawberry jam/conserve - (Americans call it jelly) and cut the cake in half or layers and spread between layers.. You can also make a delicious strawberry butter cream icing by mixing the fresh strawberry jam into the butter and icing mixture...

Yes this recipe does use berrys in it.
FRESH STRAWBERRY CAKE
1 box. white or yellow cake mix
3 oz. box strawberry Jello
3/4 c. Crisco oil
3/4 c. milk
4 eggs, separated
1 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
1 c. shredded coconut
2 c. fresh strawberries, halved
1/4 c. butter, softened
4 c. powdered sugar
Combine cake mix and dry Jello; mix by hand. Add oil, milk and egg yolks. Beat just enough to mix. In a separate bowl, mix coconut, nuts and berries. Put half of this mixture into batter, saving other half for the frosting. Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into batter. Pour into 3 greased and floured 8 or 9 inch pans. Bake 20 to 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool and frost. For frosting, mix butter and sugar together; add remaining half of strawberry mixture and beat well. Variation: Use diced peaches and peach Jello or fresh blackberries with blackberry Jello.

You can throw berries in the cake mix before you cook it! Cut em in quarters first. It's kinda like how blueberry muffins are made. And throw some on top too!

I would not bake the berries. If you are layering, add any fruit in between the layers(slice it thin) and on top! Strawberry's peaches and bananas are wonderful.
