I think, the term Protestant comes from the fact that they protested the ideas that they felt were wrong. I think one of the things were that if you stopped giving money to the church, you would go to Hell because you were ex-communicated the flip side being you could buy your way into heaven.

Someone who protested against the Catholic faith. they are Christians.
In the early days, these people went through pure hell, for protesting against the Catholic faith, and are definitely not a cult.
They are Protestant Christians, who devote their life to Jesus Christ.

It's a Christian religion that used to be different, like used to be Catholic or Mormon or something, and then they thought that their religion was missing something, so they branched off of that religion to form a religion like Lutheran or FLDS, or something.
