Do you mean these wonderfully made, weak and yet so strong they are at the top of the food chain, so incredibly ugly and yet so beautiful human bodies? Do you mean these very vessels that we have yet to completely figure out, these shells that we abuse and misuse, even though we have a great manual on how to keep it beautiful and young? Those bodies?

God created man in His own image and in His own Likeness.
These Spiritual beings want to be like God, NOT Man!!
Hence they take the human form whle knowing fully well that its God's image!!

We have quite big responsibility with our free will. We are very hard wired toward God. But the free will makes things interesting. I like to have a choice.
