Knowledge and understanding may shake the falsity loose from faith, but in the end - Truth is was is sought. It is the same goal as Science or any seeker of knowledge/understanding.
In the end, the two must be reconciled. Faith can not ignore what is True.
Regardless where the Truth comes from...it must be integrated and accepted.
This weakens the faith of those with superficial faith, but it does not disturb the pure of heart with true faith.

Interesting.
You feel as though knowledge leads people away from God and yet you took the time to learn the knowledge necessary to use the computer to voice your opinion. The computer you used, by the way, as well as the electricity that powers it, would never have been conceived of if this "spurious" knowledge you speak of had been spurned as you suggest we all do.
Theories and philosophies do not corrupt. They cannot corrupt. It is men who seek out the evil in everything around them who misinterpret God's blessing of knowledge as evil and corrupting.
False teachings, like those who teach them, become self evident by their very nature.

Could you be any more vague ?
First of all...who is "you"...who is the question directed at ?...Atheists ? Scientists ? Students ?
Specifically what "theories"/"teachings"/"philosophies" are you referring to, and how do you know/prove that they are false in comparison to those found in the bible ?
Why have you allowed your faith to become blind ?
Why have you allowed your objective / reasonable / rational thought processes to become comprimised with extreme ideology ?
Why did you post such a vague question, which deserves nothing less than a vague and incomplete answer, in the form of more questions ?

I agree. Mere Knowledege has never been God's real way to satisfy man.. Its no wonder the tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil was not what He had hoped man would partake of but rather the Tree of Life in the garden.

So education leads you away from god? It's better to be stupid then have an education? Education does not teach religion, it also doesn't teach against religion. If you think education turns one away from religion then your faith wasn't very strong was it? So go a head, Just get dumber and dumber and soon..........You will be no more.

It's funny, my education allowed me to question 'God' and experience brought me around full circle, right back to 'God'. Life is fun!
But stop being afraid of knowledge.

Adherence to six day creationism is not a precondition of salvation. Only accepting Christ's command to "follow me" counts in that department.

Because I like to learn a little bit about everything?
I...didn't? My family just never bothered to go to church.
Because I like to learn? Because I'm curious?
As they say...ignorance is bliss. I wanted to learn everything when I was little. I still do. If that makes me a sinner full of evil, then I guess my dad was right about God:
"God wanted us all to be fat, stupid, naked, happy chappies."

Even YOU have to admit that actual knowledge backed up by scientific proof is rather more substantial than mere faith...
