I donèt really know what he likes except cooking and good wine... He would probably like a nice watch or a nice Mont Blanc pen but I dont think I can afford it.

A good bottle of wine (the staff at a good spirits store will help you) is fine. There are excellent vintages for around $20 - $30 per bottle.

Men love gadgets - so how about something cooking related - how about something quite unexpected such as --- good Chinese cookware or set of rice bowls or a saucier or a slab of marble (dough board) or set of silpats (for baking) check out professional quality gear at a restaurant supply store. It's fun to have the same toys that the "big boys" have.

BTW - I bought a granite pestle and mortar at the Chinese grocery store for less than $20 - it's elegant and I use it all the time.

Farewell Gifts For Boss

That's a tough one. You don't want to give your boss anything too personal. Talk to some of your other coworkers, and see if they are interested in a 'group gift' that would allow you to buy something significant.

A token gift and make sure its nothing personal. Maybe an item for his desk would be a good choice.

He likes cooking and good wine...what about a trendy new cookbook ? You could also make a card / bookmark to go along.
Or perhaps a cooks apron ?

What are his personal interests? Does he like golf? Then something related to that.

Is he going to a new job? How about a cactus garden for his new office?
