I decided to start doing push ups, with the goal of being able to do 100 in a row. Right now I can only do 7. What is the best way to build up to 100? I was all achey last night, just from doing the 7 earlier that day. I don't want to exercise wrong. So should I do them every other day? Or should I just push myself to do more and more till I can do 100? Also, how long will it take before I can do 100? A few months?

If you can only do 7 right now, then we are talking years before you can do 100 consecutively. It sounds like you aren't in very good shape, so I'm not sure if this is the only exercise you want to do or what?
You are very weak currently, so I suggest you do girl push-ups (knees on the floor) so that you can do a higher count. You should be able to do about 15 or so of those. Start out doing 3-4 sets of 15 a day with 1-2 days off per week to rest and build up from there. You really should add some weight training so that you aren't working just 1 muscle group and make your whole body stronger. Chest presses, shoulder presses, lat bar, butterfly and more will increase your upper body strength, resulting in increased strength for pushups.

Try starting by doing them on the wall. Stand by the wall, cross one leg over the other, and start doing push ups. It seems way to easy, but that way you can do 100-200 and build up your strength. That is how I got up to doing 40 push ups from being able to do 0, and I am an 18 year old girl. I did the wall thing until I could do about 4 sets of 5 push ups. Then I started doing it the traditional way. It won't take long!

It will help out more than youru chest. It also benfit your arms too. But eventually you should be going up in reps. And its best to limit yourself to 3-4 sets only. 10 sets of 10s arent going to help too much because you really dont get a sweat. I would recommend starting with 20 reps and doing 4 sets of them. Its not 100 total, but you should be able to go up eventually. And I also would recommend atleast 2 days of rest per week. It does your muscles no good if you dont give it a breather from time to time. And a further recommendation is to hit the gym. Pushups can only take you so far, but you'll need a more balanced body so the gym can offer you a lot of help.

Just like you said, you have to gradually do it. Do 7 pushups, take a break and then try to do the 7 again. Once 7 becomes easy, move up to 10 then 15, 20....and so on. Also working out your arms, chest, and shoulders wouldn't hurt. Try doing some benchpress, isolation curls, preacher curls, dips, and french press.

Gradually build up too 100. If you can do seven, try eight or nine the next day. When you've mastered that, keep taking small steps until you reach your goal.

You can do it. just start with doing 10 then rest the next day then do 15 and then rest the next day and do 20.

keep doing this till you reach 100.

soon your be doing 1000 a day.
500 in the morning and 500 before bed.

you can also do 10 in the morning and 10 at night.
not all at once till you get used to it.

you will have 100 in about a month.

good luck

This is how I do them:
Put your feet under a couch for support, keep your knees together- when you do that you get more results on your abs, arms across your chest, count like this 111111111111, 22222222222, and go up to ten. It gives your mind the ulusion[sp] of less situps. trust me it works!
