We've had him for 5 days. He walks around meowing all day!!
So, we click at him and he'll stop for a second, but then he just starts up again.
He's driving us CRAZY!

He's probably calling for his mother. You need to let him get used to the idea that you're his mother now. Play with him a LOT, and cuddle him a LOT. Also, keep reminding him that you love him.

He's calling for his mother most likely. He will settle down eventually. But it will help if you pay A LOT of attention to him. I don't mean pick him up for ten minutes and play with him. I mean take turns carrying him about, keeping him in your lap while sitting and doing whatever you may be doing. You may have to get a second cat. Some cats don't do well in an all people environment.
Remember, he's not an accessory, and even though he's a pet, he's got a whole separate personality with his own needs and desires. Keep that in mind and you'll get along fine.
And congrats on the new member of the family! I'd hand out cigars if it wasn't so politically incorrect!

There are lots of possibilities, among them..:

1) He could be lonely- if he went from being in home full of other kittens to a house where he's all alone, he may be trying to find his siblings. It'll take some time for him to adjust to his new surroundings and to being the only cat.

2) Since he stops when you pay attention to him, he may want your attention. This may also be a part of of the first issue- he misses having his playmates. Play with him, tire him out so he won't make so much noise.

3) He could be a talker. Some cats are just plain noisy. I live with 4--- 2 are very quite- one rarely ever meows. The other two chatter constantly. Unfortunately one is very loud and has this gravelly croak that sounds like he's constantly complaining. But they just love to talk and love to be talked to by myself and my fiancee.

4) Not to make you worry, but... It could be deaf or partially deaf. Cats tend to meow louder than normal because they can't hear themselves and assume you can't hear them either. You can try to figure out if he's deaf by having one person go out of the kitten's line of vision and make loud noises and see if he reacts to the noises. If he doesn't you may have a deaf cat.

If its 1 or 2- he'll probably settle down eventually. If its 3 or 4, learn to live with it.

Your kitten may be going through some separation anxiety from his litter mates. Once he's accepted that this is his new home and you are his family, he'll cut back on his meowing. To help hurry the process along, try to play with him more and give him more attention. He may not feel completely comfortable with you yet and being in a new place.

taking on a kitten is very similar to having a baby in the house, they need a lot a attention, you need to be holding and petting and talking softly and lovingly to the kitten to expedite the transition of being taken away from its mother, that's why its crying, its calling out to find its mother, so just pay a lot of attention to the kitten and in about one month this situation will be forgotten.

He could still be trying to adjust to his new environment. He's away from his mom and siblings for the first time and that will take some getting used to.

Mine did that when he was real little. In fact, he was a stray, and that's how we found him. I think they are looking for their mom...for comfort...for food.

He is 3 now, and he can still be loud when he wants our attention.

How old is the kitten? It sounds too young to be away from its mom...

Buy him some toys and maybe he'll feel better.
