Would a really bad sunburn on my legs make my ankles swell?

I wouldn't have thought so but I have no idea why my ankles are swelling.

it can. Burns cause a shift in fluids in the body, so edema (or fluid filled tissues) results. The worse the burn the more pronounced the shifts.

If Aloe Vera hasn't helped, try a moisturizer called Hempz Herbal Moisturizer to soothe and repair your skin. I use it after tanning with excellent results, so I would imagine it has a positive effect on already-sunburned skin as well.
