Darlin, you are not being too fussy!! Don't let anyone make you think that you are. The situtation can be handled really easy if you're the hostess. Alot harder if you aren't. If you're the hostess, you simply make an announcement that you "heard" that there is a stomach virus, 24 hour bug, SOMETHING going around, and you don't want anyone to get sick, so please refrain from double-dipping! Now, if you're really close to the hostess, you can suggest she do the above. I realize that not every one will have the gumption to do this...boy, I could! But, when you think about it, it technically isn't a lie. There is ALWAYS some kind of virus floating around. Good luck!!

I have seen a chocolate fountain they are delicious. I do have to say it is tempting to double dip but I would NEVER do it. It is disgusting and grouse. Next time just tell the person if they want that much chocolate they need to get a plate and get some extra chocolate so they won't double dip.

Double-dipping is bad etiquette but it's really not going to hurt anything, we're sharing germs all the time through our hands & the air we breathe and a dozen other ways. I don't do it because I know many other people dislike it, but personally I'm not concerned about it, I doubt I'd even notice if someone else double-dipped.

COMPLETELY, and of course your not being to fussy, first and fore-most theres a rule set in place called "no double dipping" and it especially applies when sharing in a public food facility, you had every right to be upset. In those situations I might either avoid the situation by decideing to wait till I get home to eat and tell others to avoid, going over there aswell, but if you feel the need to say something to the person dont be loud and beligerent, just calmly tell the person that germs do infact spread and wheather they were sick or not its still rude and inappropriate.

Yeah that actually IS a turn off. By someone double dipping, it's the same thing as sharing a plate of something with someone. You'd only do that if you knew that person and felt comfortable doing that.

If it's meant for public use, yes double dipping is gross. However, i double dip all the time if i have my own sauce cup. Never actually witnessed anyone doing this, so not sure what i would do.

Double-dipping is sooooo wrong. At least the chocolate circulates through the fountain - but it's still gross.

Double dipping really irks me, whether it is at a chocolate fountain or in a bowl of salsa. No one wants your germs!!!

Unless you have individual chocolate fountains (which I don't think exist) one should NEVER double-dip ANYTHING that's shared.

double dip? you mean the marshmallow or whatever fruit is on a stick or fork and just dips it twice for double coating OR dips it in, takes a bite then dips it again?
if its the latter it's so unhygienic...
