I know alot of people on here never hear about the good news coming from Iraq. Most people on here base their ideas off of all the negative reporting on the news. Should we stay there or should we come home, is the question asked ALL the time on here.... So I just wanted to throw this story I found online on here, and see what people think about it....
Is the US presence over there actually making a difference??

And just some more info... I am not a liberal. I firmly believe we should keep our troops there until the job is done. I support our troops and their efforts.

You can do as I do. When ever I go to the VA I talk to the men and women that have come back. They are the ones that really know not the liberal media. The most of them I've talked to have said it was working. We are kicking some serious butt when t comes to the insurgents and we are training the Iraqi Army to take over when we leave. Our soldiers are there helping the people and keeping them from being murdered like they were when Saddam was still running things.
Sorry if I don't take the word of FOX news, I found too many lies in their reports but from the US soldiers point of view, we are doing well.

I was there for OIF 2. I noticed that most of the Iraqi people saw us as a necessary evil. They did not really want us there - but accept that they need us there.
And I was amazed at just how distorted and negative the news is.

Bad news sells. Despite the seriously misleading nature of the media some good news leaks out. Those who only listen to the media often think that it is total anarchy over there.
This constant flow of bad media actually helps the insurgency. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. And the media ain't no better here.

don't care.
all the fox news warm and fuzzy stories in the world won't change the FACT that iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, american security or the war on terror.
reps and dems had better wake up to this fact, because the population is WAY out in front of politicians on this issue.
if the current ruling powers don't wise up, we may very well end up with an independent president in 2009.
i would choose bloomberg or hagel over any of the current candidates.
check the latest polls, i'm not alone in this...

I don't base my opinion on the news, I spent 12 months in Iraq and didn't see much of anything being accomplished. I found that most Iraqis hated us, and the time that they tried to blow up my Humvee reinforces that.
The positive news that I can provide is that the living facilities for US soldiers have been improving on many bases.

First thing any Lib is going to say is "Fox News?!?"
It's funny how so many people complain about Bush and "his" war and how so many people are being killed.
I hardly ever hear anybody say anything bad about the people actually doing all the killing...

No.
Our servicemen and women are NOT policemen and policewomen. They are soldiers, Marines, airmen, sailors, and coast guardsmen/women.
We have no reason to be "patrolling" the streets of Iraq. Hell, we can't even patrol our own border.
