Galatians 5:16-21 - "But I say, Keep walking by spirit and YOU will carry out no fleshly desire at all.  For the flesh is against the spirit in its desire, and the spirit against the flesh; for these are opposed to each other, so that the very things that YOU would like to do YOU do not do.  Furthermore, if YOU are being led by spirit, YOU are not under law.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, and they are fornication, uncleanness, loose conduct,  idolatry, practice of spiritism, enmities, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, contentions, divisions, sects,  envies, drunken bouts, revelries, and things like these. As to these things I am forewarning YOU, the same way as I did forewarn YOU, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s kingdom."

You can see that it says those that PRACTICE such things. If you have done one of these things once or twice and are sorry about it and ask God's forgiveness, he will fogive you.

The part you brought up was saying that there was no agreement between what the spirit wants and what the flesh wants:
16This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

The two desire two different things:
17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.
(Try reading the New International Version, you may like it better )

Paul wrote this letter so that the Galatians would stop listening to the "Judaizers" who were trying to mix the Law of Moses with Christanity. You MUST understand this in order to understand Galatians and the Gospel itself. Many Christians do not get this!

I could go on much, much more on this. Most of what you meet in Christianity are worried about certain 'sins' which are not what God worries about at all. If God sees something in you, He will change you. It's as simple as that. But the Gospel has been attacked, of course, by Satna and his minions for years now, centuries. And the Christians sights are always pointed towards themselves or others with the idea that we can make ourselves better for God. The eyes are NOT on Jesus when they do that. The 'Law" of Moses, or the many various interpretations on how to be clean are NOT the way Paul says to go.

So As Hebrews 12:2 says:
2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

So please! Get it right! We are so few who look to God in order to trust Him. Not at this and that; do's and don'ts of our lives. When you look at yourself, see sin. It keeps you humble!

(Galatians 5:16-21) . . .But I say, Keep walking by spirit and YOU will carry out no fleshly desire at all. 17 For the flesh is against the spirit in its desire, and the spirit against the flesh; for these are opposed to each other, so that the very things that YOU would like to do YOU do not do. 18 Furthermore, if YOU are being led by spirit, YOU are not under law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, and they are fornication, uncleanness, loose conduct, 20 idolatry, practice of spiritism, enmities, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, contentions, divisions, sects, 21 envies, drunken bouts, revelries, and things like these. As to these things I am forewarning YOU, the same way as I did forewarn YOU, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s kingdom.

Try it in to days English and see if it makes more sense?

Its not a matter of doing one of these things its matter of practicing these things.

The bible I use words it as "those who practice such things will not inherit God's kingdom"

All humans are imperfect and sin, it's those who unrepentantly continue to practice the "works of the flesh" that will not inherit God's kingdom". Didn't King David commit adultery? Didn't God forgive him after he repentant from his sin?

Ask God to forgive you for whatever it was you did, and try to avoid doing it again. If it involved someone else, it maybe a good thing to set matters right with them and apologize.

One way to avoid practicing the works of the flesh, is to work on showing the "fruitage of the spirit" which is brought out in verse 22 of Gal 5. They are "love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control"

When it says those who do such things...it means practices them, or does them on a regular basis.
If you are led by the Spirit, there will be growth in your Christian life. Our old nature needs to be crucified daily...our habits do not die immediately. Patterns of behavior, they are learned- some of us were quite practiced in certain sins- take a while to eliminate. Truly, walk in the Spirit and you will not follow the flesh.
God doesn't hate you...our High Priest Jesus having been human, knows our weaknesses, and understands. He does call for us to be Holy, our way is to repent.

Like all passages of Scripture, you have to look at the Bible as a whole and what it says about sin and forgiveness. This passage is talking about how we should live as believers. If you have asked for forgiveness for your sins and seek to follow after Jesus, then you ought to be living by the Spirit and not living a life contrary to that Spirit. That doesn't mean that you will never again sin. Paul points that out in other passages, but, as we follow after Jesus and the Spirit works in our lives, we should sin less and less. We should not easily or casually participate in any of the things things listed in the Galatians 5 passage. We should choose to walk another way.

When we do fall into sin (and Paul says we will ), we ask for forgiveness and move in the opposite direction. We don't stay where we are and act as if we are powerless over the sin in our lives because we can overcome sin through Jesus Christ.

The Bible also tells us to examine ourselves and to be careful how we live. We are to think and to plan and to evaluate and to grow and to change. We are to live wisely. We should be able to see change taking place in our lives if we are living by the Spirit.

Blessings.

By using our God-given freedom in harmony with the leadings of God’s spirit, we will show love and be a blessing to others. It should be a habit to allow ourselves to be controlled and led by holy spirit. Then we will not be bent on unlovingly satisfying our sinful flesh that “is against the spirit in its desire.” If we are led by God’s spirit, we will do what is loving but not because rules demand compliance and impose penalties on wrongdoers. For instance, love—not just a law—will keep us from slandering others.

once you become saved and accept Jesus Christ, the holy spirit lives in your heart. You are cleansed with the blood of Christ. you become born again && your old nature dies. with that being said, do not live for yourself. live for God. when it talks about flesh it means you as yourself. what you want and desire is completely different as to what God desires. But if you let the holy spirit thats inside your heart lead the way, you wont be able to do these things as you would with your old nature. it becomes a battle between self and God. it's that guilt you feel when you know you've committed a sin and you had the option not to. it's that little voice inside that tells you not to do it. but most of the time we do it anyway. when you do the works of the flesh, your doing what you want and what you want only. all those things listed up there... they are nothing of God. God is love and none of those are love. but that's why we have Jesus. we will never be perfect. only through him is that possible. God forgives when you ask him to forgive. once you do that, it's like it never happened. but that doesn't mean to think you can do it all the time without caring and then go back to him when you've had your fun. God knows your heart && he's not ignorant or stupid. that's what I get from that scripture.

as for God hating you....he doesn't hate you. He loves you. When he sees us, he sees his only son. Jesus Christ. your not perfect and will never be perfect until you enter the kingdom of God. your a sinner. were all sinners. that's why we have forgiveness. that's why we have Jesus. God sent him to save us from our sin. but you will never be able to live the perfect life Jesus lived. but through him, you are saved. i think you should pray. and ask God for forgiveness if you haven't already. and i think you should get to know the word.
God bless
&&
im praying for you.

You have forgiveness through Jesus Christ if you are saved in Him- have you acknowledged you have sinned against Him and asked for His forgiveness? Have you made him Lord of your life, knowing He is the way, truth and life? (John 14:6)
We who are saved still struggle with our flesh, because we are born into a sinful nature, even though we are covered by the blood of Christ we still fall weak to the flesh ( meaning we sin still)
But we have the conviction of the Holy Spirit, and when we do fall, we are quickly convicted and know when we sin and we do not wish to sin--- so that is why God tells us to be constant in prayer and word, we must live by the SPIRIT of God! Not by the ways of the world and give in to our flesh ( things we would desire that are against God)

These works of the flesh are selfish things the people indulge in when they do not have God's holy spirit. Read further and you will see the fruitage of God's spirit. It's totally opposite and against these "there is no law."
