Nice god they have there
Look at these LAME Christian answers, saying you took it out of context - you didn't, you quoted the whole account. They can't give a real answer because they are cowards and ashamed to admit their god would do such a thing

Actually, the Bible doesn't mention homosexuality in it's original languages. You see, Sodom and Gomorrah had nothing to do about gay people, and Paul has been mistranslated as well. People should study the words in the original Hebrew and Greek and not trust King James or any other poorly translated bible. The idea that the Bible condemns homosexuality is just a false teaching, but again, you have to look at the original language.

Yes, "God" advocates killing your kids if they get out of line. Now watch all the "Christians" try to argue that A) God is just, and rebellious kids deserve to be stoned to death; and B) that was the OT, and we're now under Jesus' grace.
I always like to quote that episode in Kings in which God possesses some she-bears to take out the kids who taunted Elisha. Several "Christians" always respond with "That's what you get for messing with God's prophet!" Moral: NEVER leave a Christian alone with your children.

Christians believe the Old Testament is obsolete, superceded by the New Testament. In practice, though, this just allows them to pick and choose. There are no passages in the NT against homosexuality so they go back to the OT. But the OT also says you can't eat pork, you can't wear clothes of mixed fibers, you can't eat meat and milk at the same meal, etc. etc.
I agree with you, it's inconsistent. But I think the Christian campaign against homosexuality is more political than based on faith or religious values or anything. It's a way for conservatives to rally Christians to their side by pretending they want to protect us from those 'deviant' gays.
The reason our founding fathers wanted a 'wall of separation' between church and state was not to protect the state from corruption by religion, but to protect religion from corruption by politics. And now that the wall is crumbling, this is exactly what's happening. Church leaders are mixing political stuff into their religious teachings.

When worshiping the god of the Israelites, do as the Israelites do. That's why I advocate limiting the god of the Israelites to Israelis. Even Christians don't listen to this god anymore.
Yet, somehow they claim his word is eternal and unchanging.

What you don't realize that if you understood Jewish culture and Jewish writings you would understand that this passage is referring to a bad son. We talking about a criminal son. To lable someone as "rebellious" in the old testament we to signify this person as a bad, bad dude. I guess you fail to see the part where it says discipline will not work. When it said "purge the evil from among you"...they were talking about a person that was a threat to society. My friend Moses was saying that if your SON is a criminal and will not change and is a threat to society...you must stone him. That is the instructions of a loving God.

o.k that Law was for Israel Only o.k not for us PLEASE UNDERSTAND
- O.K those laws were there for discipline among Israel!
This guys were not ignorant about the Laws God gave to Moses, then it is not God's fault!
if you disobey the Laws there's a consequence
Many died because of the rebellion! The Law was established, then , it means that they wanted to die!
i know it sounds kind of hard discipline, but all you had to do is Obey The Law!
God will not kill you if you Obey The Laws! if you disobey then that will be your choice! and you'll get the retribution for your sin!

You know, I'm always intrigued that these are in the OT and Jesus never mentions homosexuality. Wasn't the point of the NT to change people into loving, compassionate and open hearted individuals. I think sometimes people can miss this too easily. No I'm not Christian but I do 'know' my scriptures........you know what I mean. (Buddhist)

In biblical times, there wasn't much to do. That's why the bible mentions so many people getting stoned. It was one of the few ways to pass the time.

You have to remember that this all takes place before Christ. All were lost souls and something had to be done to show that they couldn't behave in such a fashion.
BTW - it is written in the New Testament that men shall not lay with men. Therefore making homosexuality wrong in the eyes of our creator.
