I'm actually responding to an answer you put on my question. Thanks for the advice (I already knew it but thanks anyways) it is good advice (now if only I could convince my husband). His thinking is we have to try every day which (for me) gets kind of tiring and boring.

As long as he is getting around 12 hours of sleep a day it doesn't matter how he does ( all night, naps etc.). My 25 month old still takes a 3 hour nap. She goes to school in the morning has a nap from 12-3 and goes to bed around 9 waking up at 6. My 11 month old still takes two 1.5 hour naps, morning & afternoon.

My daughter (14 months) reduced her naps from 2 a day to 1 (only in the morning) by 9 months. Also, at first she went to bed at 7:15p and now it is closer to 8:00p. According to my pediatrician, this is all normal.
There are days when your child will go through growth spurts where he will need a nap or will want to go to bed early. But, now that his growing is slowing down a little (as a toddler), you will see he has more energy and won't always need that nap (even though it gives you a chance to rest).
Good luck!

All 4 of mine had to lay down to rest for at least 1/2 hour a day, their choice if they fell asleep or not, up intil they were about 5. It was a nice way to relax, both them and myself.
I feed them lunch about 12 and set the alrm clock for 12:30. When the alarm clock went off they knew it was time to "lay down". I never refered to this time as napping, naps are for babies, resting isn't I was told by my then 2 year old! They knew everday what to expect and when to expect it. Oh yeah once they were in their beds resting(wink, wink) I would check on them and if they feel asleep, great, if not they would have to stay in their beds until 30 minutes were up. 99% of the time, they feel asleep. It worked for me, all 4 of mine are now teens.

My daughter still has a nap every afternoon and she is 33 months. But she has always been a really good sleeper. I think it is just down to individuals. Maybe your son is just letting you know he no longer needs a nap.

My daughter quit taking regular naps at around 2yrs. She would take them sometimes but not all the time. By 3yrs she had completely stopped napping.

my 2 have been the two approximately 20 months, they used to have a three hour nap interior the day and then to mattress for 5:30 up back at 8am ish, the single solid factor approximately dropping the naps became into with the flexibility to get out for the duration of the day as they slept goodbye i on no account would desire to. For you regardless of in case you would be able to omit it she would possibly be able to be placed down until now at evening which leaves your comprehensive evening loose! fairly of a sleep possibly have quiet time like we do after all of us cuddle up on the settee with the blanket and a few television for an hour, that's greater often than not a competent wind down time for you too x solid success x
