I live in Wimbledon, which at the moment is understandably packed with tennis crazies.. I also have to work right in the hub of the centre where everyone arrives at and departs from there.
What do I do?
Thankfully I work shifts so this week I have done my breakfast and lunch shopping very early before the crowds arrive.... next week I am on lates and have not yet devised a plan of attack for going about my daily stuff....
I so far have managed to avoid too much pressure, although next week I shall definitely be cycling rather than getting a tram or local bus into work!!!
Luckily like the Wombles I do actually work underground so the tourist/tennis people aren't in our faces all the time.
I do feel sorry for you being surrounded by it all the time though, am lucky that this is just 2 weeks a year and that tourism wasn't as bad as it could have been where I used to live on the South Coast.
Tourists in London are quite often the worst I've seen so far :-P especially if you're going over the Hungerford bridge to the train station to get your train home after what SHOULD have been a relaxing day out... and don't get me started on the street vendors who think that EVERYONE who walks by is a gullible fool :-P

Its all about timing. The best time of day to do anything in a tourist saturated area is early in the morning before the lazy bums wake up from their fun filled night of hogging up your city, lol. Go to the restaurants that they don't go to and as well as anything else that they are unaware of as tourists.Toursits drive me insane with their lousy driving and jumping out into crossesctions without bothering to read the NO CROSSING signs. Good luck. I've been threatening to go to where the tourists live and act like a self absorbed, obnoxious butthead in their town. Hmmmmm I wonder how they'd like THAT?

Those are the draw backs of a tourist area. But the perks are what keep you there!! Maybe you could move to s asmall suburb, just outside the main city!

I live in Orlando and we are going to try to do things really early this year, because last year we got aggravated with the lines and hordes of people. So that is my plan for this year. Get there before most people are getting out of bed. :-)

I live in Florida, so winter is our crowded season. I try to stay off the main roads and go shopping early in the morning to avoid crowds. work is a nightmare because they all come to the library and tell us how they do it Up North.

I live on the outskirts of a seaside town and summer is a nightmare....no spaces to park etc etc. Best to avoid the town and the happy holidaymakrers in summer. :(
