but what christians often dont understand is that "theory" is the highest status a scientific idea can get.
Gravity has never been "proved" in the sense that you demand from evolution. Yes, Gravity is "only a theory".

this is partly what is so good about science. i.e it is not dogmatic.

The only convincing explanation for complex life forming out of simple materials is evolution.

"God created it " was just an excuse given by dumb tribal holy book writers later followed by dumb brainless or dumb religious idiots and priests.

What exactly are you speaking of when you say science? If you're talking about empirical, or observational science, science that can be confirmed using the scientific method, then you are correct in that it is rarely dogmatic. Historical science, on the other hand, can be highly dogmatic, especially when it comes to the evolution theory.

Also the interesting thing about your example is that gravity has more to do with empirical science, because we can continually test it to see if it exists and it's not going to undergo any drastic changes. The problem with evolution is that it has more to do with historical science, science that cannot really be proven because it can't be studied, due to the fact that it transpired in the past, and thus it cannot be proven.

No doubt we can see Darwin's four postulates of evolution happening today, yet you still have to interpret them based on the presupposition that life is evolving in the first place. There is also the issue that you can't prove that these postulates were happening in the past because we weren't there to see it.

The status of a scientific idea is only as high as the researchers consider it to be.

The existence of atoms is also "only a theory". But atomic theory is so well supported by solid evidence that it forms the very foundation of science. And it is of course that very supporting evidence that has elevated what was a mere hypothesis to the exalted status of a universally accepted scientific theory. Evolution likewise is one of the most thoroughly supported scientific theories that exist, and as such forms the very foundation of the biological sciences.

OK, fair enough there is proof of evolution. But in the Bible it says that God created the birds and animals before humans. In 7 days. Treat these 7 days as theoritical and as just describing the phases of the world, and you practically have your theory of evolution. Dont forget that the first Believers were uneducated and illiterate, they wouldn't necessarily have understood the full concept, so a simplified version was included in Genesis:1.

look- discussing the evolution topic in religion is outright retarded. Anyone who can't understand the concept of a proven and reinforced theory is being WILLFULLY ignorant. There's no convincing them- they're being unreasonable. MOST CHRISTIANS ARE NOT LIKE THIS. The VAST majority of them accept scientific data like anyone else whose heads are not stuffed where they don't belong.

Not to mention there are other religions that deny evolution... and once again its something they actually have to TRY to do.

You're beating a dead horse with this question, and arguing with a brick wall.

Samuel F.B. Morse = Morse Code

TIME + CHANCE = DNA code

An explosion of nothing caused by nothing billions of years ago = the origin of the DNA code.

That is not scientific.

This is why strong assertion of the evolution theory is not a good idea.

An intelligent design is evidence of an Intelligent Designer even if the little human mind cannot comprehend it.

Intelligent design is not evidence of an accident.

Those who believe in evolution insist on being descendents of monkeys and apes.

Those who believe in creation insist on being created by an infinitely benevolent and intelligent mind.

I believe your definition of "dogmatic" is a bit subjective. Check this out:

In this sense, I've met plenty of people who believe science in much the same way as Christians are described.

And calling Christians dumb because they believe something is about as lame as me calling a scientist dumb because he follows the tenets of science. You follow science because you trust the scientists who explain it. How is this any different from religion?

Truthfully, nobody will convince anybody else unless they WANT to be convinced. Bickering accomplishes nothing--if we haven't learned that by now, we probably never will

it depends on how you are talking about gravity. if you are trying to explain gravity then it is a theory, but there is the law of gravity that states all things are pulled towards the center of a mass. the statement is the law the explanation is the theory.

I agree entirely, and I would like to see someone who disagrees with that opinion here try to give contradictory EVIDENCE, not just saying that it's not correct, because the bible is correct, or something like that.

Don't bother. They don't care about the truth; they will believe what they WANT to believe in. They deny the evidence, many saying that Satan put fossils and such on earth to persuade us against God. Just be thankful they won't end up being our doctors.
