Yes -- you can. I fry with olive oil all the time. For a "richer" flavor, you can use a combination of olive oil and butter.

yes, you can fry with a combination of the 2, however the both burn at different temperatures. olive oil burns at a fairlt low temp, around 425 F, and butter is even lower. i would not recomend blending the 2 in order to fry something. Olive oil is a healthier solution and in my opinion tasts just as good as butter. try breading the foods you wish to fry. coat with a thin layer of flower, then an egg wash, then seasoned bread crumbs or more flower. this will provide a dense crisp outer coating, and seal inn al of the moisture/ flavor of the food you are frying.

Butter melts very quickly and burns while olive oil is very good for frying. Olive oil also adds it's flavor to fried foods. Use extra virgin olive oil and add butter before it is too hot and add vegetables to toss as a finisher. Cook the vegetables first for example.

Yes, you can heat olive oil to fry food. I do it all the time, but I don't let the oil get smoking hot (over 375 degrees) because it will burn. You can add butter but the burn temp of it is even lower than olive oil. Your best bet is to mix your olive oil with canola oil (even parts) because canola oil is bland & can withstand higher cooking temps.

Yes, but that's kind of defeating the objective. Also a tip from an Italian Chef on TV said, "use extra light virgin olive oil" it doesnt burn as fast.
Butter is thicker, and olive oil is lighter, so depending on what you're trying to cook.
Good Luck

Yes, it is safe. Don't mix it with butter. Just use olive oil its healthier then butter. I make everything with it including eggs.

Yes, it works great and has the advantage of the olive oil not allowing your butter to burn.

Olive oil has a very low burn point. I saute in it all the time, you just have to be careful, don't let it heat for long before adding the food. And it does impart it's taste onto the food

olive oil can tolerate higher temps than butter or other oils.
Heat your pan to desired temp before adding olive oil to avoid scorching the oil.
use butter to pan fry items at lower temperatures.

Absolutely. This is, in fact, one of the preferred ways of searing a good quality steak (before finishing in a hot broiler). I would recommend using clarified butter, however--that is, you melt the butter slowly, then allow the butter to cool, skimming off the chunks that form on the top, leaving you only with a light yellow mostly transparent liquid.
