My wedding is in a week and a half and I am still trying to put the program together. I know, I know...It should already be done! I have been to weddings and they have had dancers or soloists. I do not have a soloist and early on, we decided not to have dancer(s) because it is so cliche now. What are some other artistic things we can do to basically kill time?
Oh yeah, the wedding is in a church!

Ok. At almost every African American wedding that I have been to, they have had an expressive dancer dance to a worship or love song. I should have specified. Thanks.

I think your wedding is an event in itself and you dont need elaborate dancers or soloists or anything like that. During the ceremony everyone should be focused on you, the groom, and the ceremony itself. Afterwards, you should be going around thanking your guests for coming and encouraging them to chat amongst themselves. You should have some kind of background music even if it's just from a boombox. Record a couple of CDs with your favorite love songs and have them playing in the background.

Are you talking about during the wedding? If so, you can always play songs from a CD or just have piano music. We had a soloist and music from a CD.
If you are talking about during the reception...I like when there is a table set up with lots of pictures of the bride and groom from when they were little right up until the wedding. It is fun to look at the photos and it gives the guests something to do while your having pictures made or getting ready to come to the reception.

I've never heard of a dancer at a wedding. One wedding I went to earlier this year had a woman playing a harp prior to the ceremony (which got started about an hour late).
The previous two weddings I was at were African American and did not see that...but what I did see at the last one was all all the attendents (both bridesmaids and groomsmen) sort of danced down the aisle approaching the alter (this was also the wedding that had the woman playing the harp prior).

Get some Picture of the both you and but them into a video from baby to now have your parent first then his parents then have you as a baby then him as a baby and so on, It take a couple of days to have it doing you can go to Walgreen and have it done if you have Walgreen by you or do a power point on your on computer and then have a song playing while it is showing and you can have it as long or as short as you like. The last should be of the two of you. Good luck

Does anyone in you family sing well, my brothers and sister are signing a hymn at my wedding "On Eagles Wings".
It may be too late but why not do a slide show of photos of the 2 of you.

It is your wedding so do what YOU want not what others may do. If you want to add a special touch ask a friend from your church to single a couple of special love songs that are special to you.

Kill Time?
Usually time flies, but if you need to kill time, maybe you could have a speaker or two tell cute stories about you and/or the groom.
Hint: it is OK to obsess about every little detail right up to showtime - then let go and let God - have fun and live in the moment

Music or reader fill up time. I would check into a soloist.

I can't think of the name right now... flambeau I believe?
They bring a urn out or a large tin a light it on fire... they usually play a famous classical piece and a man will throw ash into the fire to make little explosions... it's really neat. I've seen this done a couple times at weddings.
