It is necessary. Many people who are against hunting eat meat from stores and resturants. Most of those animals live sad lives before being slain in a factory. Hunting is humane and very necessary for animals to live. It is important. I know all of you don't want to change your opinions, but if you really think about it, humans are responsible for killing animals. We are more intelligent than them. We should take care of them and controling their population is an important part of that.

"Sport aspect"-by that you mean enjoying it? What is wrong with enjoying it? It has to be done & it might as well be done by people who enjoy it.

You are right, Cutie, which is why I've long advocated that we stop the cruel practice of herding domesticated animals into slaughter-houses so that certain people won't be offended when they get their meat. If anybody wants to eat meat he should have to hunt for it and NO cheating by stopping by for some of the Colonel's crispy fried chicken or a Mickey D's. We would do okay, but what about 'them?'

Consider also that free-ranging game taken for food is not likely to be choked full of growth hormones, cloned or God knows what else. Even vegetarians and vegans (whatever they are) can't be sure what's in their food, since its processed commercially. Which is one of the reasons I hunt.

There have been situations in the area that I am from where an animal population has gotten out of control.

The area that I am from has a large population of white tailed deer. There is a safe area set aside for them inside a state park where hunting is prohibited. The deer were able to breed uninterruped and eventually there were more of them in the habitat than there was food to feed them. Many were starving and venturing outside the state park in search of food. The park is situated near the highway, as you can imagine, many jumped the fence in their search for food and were hit and killed by cars. People were also hurt and killed when the deer tried to jump their moving car and went through the windshield.

The state was forced, out of neccessity for the wellbeing of the animals, to hold a yearly "cull" of the local deer population in order to keep it under control. They open the park one weekend a year and give out a limited number of hunting permits (100 I think) and only allow each hunter 2 kills. It is strictly enforced. This allows the population to remain stable and also ensures that the resources available will be enough to sustain the deer that live there.

I am an animal lover. I am not a fan of hunting at all. I personally do not see the allure of killing an otherwise defenseless animal, but I do see how hunting has its place and can actually be helpful to the animal population.

I agree it is something that has to be done. I had a buddy that did not like the idea of going out to the woods and killing a deer until he hit 5 of then on the road in a 4 month period. That is one place where it is good another is population control. Say what you want but it is something that had to be done.

No matter if it is plant or animal it has to be killed to eat it*... Whether you are for hunting or against it is not the issue*... Just because other people kill for you in order for you to eat, whether it is plant or animal or domestic or wild makes you culpable or an accessory to the killing even though you have never given it much thought or consideration*... The disagreement over hunting has no credibility or validity and is total nonsense by those that object to it*...Hunting is another means of eating or harvesting food and it is a renewable resourse*....

One, We are not putting a gun in your hands and telling you to kill, But you are trying to take the gun out of ours. To stop all hunting would devastate the ecosystem. Ask any biologist. There is only so much food for wildlife to eat, there is not enough. So you would have wildlife starve( which i assume is very sad an painful) rather that humans eat them.

Scenario for all you bunny huggers and tree huggers out there.........A grizzly bear wanders near your home because all you vegetarians have developed the soil in his habitat or the stores where you purchase your vegies from have thousands of acres of farmland which encroached on this bears habitat. The bear smells your carrots you left out on your counter and decides he wants those carrots because he's really hungry (starving). He breaks through your window or door and eats your carrots, while you're sleeping, then decides he wants the dried fruit you decided to leave by your bed side and wanders up to your room to eat those things too. While trying to get to your dried fruit he mauls you. You telling me then that you're willing to just let that bear maul you because your attitude is "poor bear"? I don't think so man....you're definately going to try to protect yourself and your family if that happened; even if it means killing the starving animal which your eating habits have had some indirect effect on his survival.

Think about it Bunny Huggers............you're doing just as much damage to animal habitats and lives by being vegetarians!

It's a bit sad you feel the need to a have a go at people for their lifestyle or beliefs. I shared a house with a vegetarian and I ate whatever she cooked and it was surprisingly good! I respected her right to not eat meat and I never felt the need to push my lifestyle on her. I think you need to grow up!
