Hmmm, Prodigal.
You're obviously an educated, well- traveled, interesting guy. I assume that you are Lebanese. (And I suppose that it's useless to point out that this is a travel section.)

So I'm going to ask you a question:

Can you handle the truth?!

If so, here's your answer: There is no country on earth that desires peace more than Israel. That's right! Virtually every Jew (whether right wing or left wing, religious or secular) aspires to live in a peaceful world.

Israelis would love to have an open border with Lebanon like the one between the US and Canada.

Im not Arabic-Muslim or Jewish-Israeli. So, Im the 3rd person watching the conflict from the outside. Let me know if Im wrong. But, isn't the middle part of Saudi Arabia empty and aren't there empty spots along the Red Sea,Persian Gulf that can be settled by one of the two groups ? Preferably the Arabic speaking group. The Jewish-Israeli's don't have that much land.

Very much yes. There's is no question that every Israeli -young, old, male, female- wants peace. No question about it.
I would like to qualify that statement by saying that most however would not relinquish the Golan Heights for said peace, unless they were absolutely sure that the peace would be upheld (something that people don't feel today with the current leadership there).

EDIT: I'm being called out again. Mesirowbrat, I do not hate you. I never sad as such; in fact I've never even spoken to you or about you until this edit. It seems to me that your feelings about me are much stronger. Also, I do not wish massive death to all who do not agree with me. In accordance with Jewish teaching, I do not revel in the death of my enemy; however also in accordance with Jewish teaching I will strike down my enemy before he strikes me down. If that means that I have no heart then I guess all I need is a brain. You are correct however on one measure: my view of peace has strings attached. There are things that I would require of my peace partner - for example, that he may not support my enemy. That's the way it should be - a peace agreement is just that, an agreement. It's a compromise, a deal; both sides attach strings and demands to it. I honestly don't know what you mean by peace WITHOUT strings attached. What does that mean, we just stop killing each other end of story? Because the world isn't that simple - as per my example, what if instead of killing my outright he helps someone else kill me? Or what if instead of killing me he makes my life miserable - is that peace?
As a last note, I don't see how being Jewish is a source for this question.

I guess I am in agreement that they do want peace. But as was also pointed out; they want all of the land; and as much money and power as they can get. This war is how they are trying to get it. Money, power and land first. Peace will follow when they own it all or when they are defeated.

I didn't meet a single Israeli who didn't want peace.

mesirowbrat should probably teach in the University of Ramallah, and she looks like Boy George.

You have to ask their definition of "peace", to Michael and Itay it means death of everyone else except them and "their" people. Their idea of peace comes with strings attached, not just all out for peace, let's do what every we have to and end this. No. They enjoy every-time they hear of someone from "the enemy" dying, because it is better than them dying. They call it protection, but they are really evil at what would be heart if they had them.

Of course they do.

Every Israeli government for the last 50 years has wanted peace, (they have all stated so openly) but not at the cost of undermining the security and safety of its citizens.

Peace is great, but not at the cost of security.
