Have there ever been a shark that attacked a SEAL? I know its rare but sharks are the only thing that makes my idea of SEALs less intriguing. Do SEALs swim in a group? DO wetsuits unattract sharks after they bump you?
Thanks!

1. I haven't heard of any shark attacks on Navy SEAL's. Although if it happened, we probably wouldn't hear of it.

2. SEAL's always stick together. You will never find a lone SEAL, unless catastrophe has struck.

3. Wetsuits neither attract, nor unattract, sharks.

4. SEAL's carry weapons to defend themselves.

If you are interested in joining that group, speak to your recruiter. First, you will need to go through BUDS training (a very tough school) before you can go to SEAL training.

Don't be afraid of sharks. SEAL's operate in many different ways. When in the ocean, often they use zodiacs. They usually don't swim large distances to attack their targets.

I have read extensively on the Navy SEALs, and have never heard of a shark attack. Although with as much time as they have to spend in the water it wouldn't surprise me. Especially if they are wounded. But they also have weapons at their disposal that would help them protect themselves. Such as knives, guns that can shoot under water, and there are many shark repellents on the market.
I like Lavadog's response that even sharks are afraid of SEALs.

I was a helicopter rescue swimmer from 1985-1995 and NEVER heard of the SEALS or BUD/S students having problems with the sea-life.

We did all our Swimmer training in the waters just south of the NAVAL AMPHIB Base Coronado (where the SEALS live and train)... we would see Leopard sharks in the bay, but no troubles.

Exceedingly rare, if they ever happen. Most shark encounters are strictly because they're curious.

Of course, a wounded SEAL could pose a pretty serious problem, if he's bleeding into the water where sharks are extant . . . that could get ugly in a hurry.
