Yes, NCO's fight. They are usually in the front during a squad movement etc, so they may be the one to take the first hit. IN an infantry squad, you generally have 3 nco's. A squad leader, and two team leaders, so out of nine men in a normal squad, 3 are NCO's.

Do you mean fight as in go into combat carrying a gun and shooting at enemies? If so, the answer is yes. NCOs may be platoon or squad leaders depending on the situation, but even the platoon and squad leaders fight if necessary. NCOs that get into fights (as in fists flying) are usually not NCOs for long -- they get busted and lose stripes.

Most certainly !! NCO's are the back-bone of the US Military !!

I was an NCO (E-4) by the time I'd finished training, and an E-5 by the time I finished my 1st deployment. I was a door-gunner, rescue swimmer, and ASW operator. We fly, we fight.

Now there are rates and MOS in the military that wouldn't fight... Yeomen, Storekeepers, various Maintainers, etc. But that is a function of their JOB rather than their paygrade.

Every year (maybe twice a year now) you have to pass a physical fitness test. Once you reach a certain age (I can't recall if it's 50 or 40) you have to pass a physical each year. No matter your age, if you can pass a PT Test and the Docs say that you are good to go you stay in the Military and perform all of your duties.

Everyone in the military is prepared and trained to fight. Not all jobs require it though.

If they are fit for duty. NCO's are still the backbone of today's Army. There are some older guys I certainly wouldn't want to meet in an alley.

Although you wouldn't normally see any of the lower ranks
in the service much over 40, NCO (non-commissioned-
officer) means working man/woman as opposed to
gentleman by act of congress. If an enlisted man/.woman
is entitled to wear the uniform, they are subject to fighting
in the conflicts.

You better believe it! Who else would lead privates into battle, and tell the officers how the war should be fought?

You want to fight him????

If they are there they can and will shoulder arms and I would not want to be on the wrong side.

Old age and treachery will beat youth and skill any day!
