Get the UNSALTED Land o' Lakes butter quarters. It's the freshest there is. Salt is a preservative, so salted butter will last longer, therefore is not typically as fresh on the selves. UNSALTED, however, is just about as fresh as you can get in a mainstream grocery store.
If you miss the salted taste, you can add a little salt. Especially nice when you butter your toast. But in today's unhealthy world, cutting out salt is a good thing to do! You won't miss it in your cooking/baking.

I use the store brand. Most store brands are actually the exact same product as name brands. Buy both and do a taste test and I think you will find it taste the same, why spend more money?

Plugra.
It is made with a higher fat/lower water content, making it tastier and creamier.
Spread on warm french bread and it is great!
