Definitely put it in a bowl, there could be sharp edges on the can that will cut her/him.

In a shallow bowl or a small plate, and for most cats, if you are feeding the standard size 5 1/2 oz. cans, give only 1/2 can at a time. Never feed straight out of the can, your cat could get cut. PLUS, I have found that a small plate works much better than a bowl because if the cats whiskers cannot clear the edges of the bowl, he/she will not go in there. Also, for the best health of your cat, always provide a bowl of dry food that he/she can eat at-will.

In a food bowl of course! If you just give the cat food straight from the can, she'll hurt herself on the sharp edges. Besides, the can is probably narrow and she won't be able to reach the chow. Don't give the kitty food out of a can too often though- she needs dry food too. It has special vitamins in it that a cat needs especially for her eyes. Without it,her eyesight can get endangered in a few months. Sometimes the can food has the special ingredient too, but just as well I would give the cat dry food as regular and as a treat once in while from a can.
Tip: Give her a shallow bowl. Don't give her a dog bowl- it's too deep for her little face. By the way,dry cat food makes a cat's teeth stronger, and eating cat food from a can will make the creature too ''soft''. Be sure not to wash the bowl that you serve the cat food with detergent- always rinse it. That'll be enough.(unless the bowl is as dirty and crusty as a hog trough). The detergent and unnatural vapors won't attract the cat to the food- exactly the opposite, kitty will feel insulted the you give her such evil-smelling food, and won't touch it until the smell goes away in a few hours.

I think a weighted bowl is best, because when I fed my cats from a can, they would have trouble getting the food out (especially the solid kind), and would also just push the can around the floor while trying to eat. Also, the can might have a sharp edge. I also found they couldn't reach to the corners of the can, so food was wasted. So, try a bowl that won't tip over. Enjoy your kitty! Good luck!

In a bowl, with the bowl getting washed out after the cat is done eating. Not only will this cut down on bugs being attracted to left-over catfood, but would you want to eat out of a dirty dish again and again. Cats are very smell sensitive. Never feed out of the can, there are sharp edges and cats have a tendency to lick. They can cut their tongues on sharp metal cans.

In a bowl, it is hard for cats to eat out of a can plus the sharp edges could cut them.

Put the food in a shallow bowl. The cat could cut his tongue on the rim of the can AND since cats lick their food out...not eat it out with their teeth...he will not be able to reach all the food in the can...so there will be a lot of wastage.

A bowl for sure. A can can have sharp edges and your cat could cut a nose, tongue or cheek on the side of the can.
