Definitely check out the Radio City Apts. Its literally a few minutes from the action of Times Square and the rates are amazingly cheap. Me and my Mom just stayed there this March for 6 days and it was WONDERFUL. We originally booked a 1-bedroom suite but got upgraded at the last minute to a penthouse suite and the rate was just incredibly affordable. The hotel rooms all have a kitchenette or full kitchen (our hotel room was enormous and had a fantastic full-scale kitchen with a stove, full sized fridge, and utensils). It's located at 142 West 49th Street. Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum and a great BBQ restaurant "Dallas BBQ" are only 7 blocks away. A subway station is only a few steps away from Radio City Apts, so it's super convenient!

Sheraton hotels has the cheapest deal in Time Square for about $180-200 a night. Anything cheaper would not be in Time Square area.

You could try the Pennsylvania Hotel on 34th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues, it's less expensive than the Times Square Marriot or Sheraton.
