No it will not , it should be fine. I always travel with both my digital camera and laptop in my carry on luggage and nothing has every happened to them. In fact the TSA suggests that those type of items be packed in carry on luggage rather then checked.

It should be absolutely fine.
They may ask you to take it out and put in a box with other things like laptops just for safety, but that's nothing to be worried about.

No, the same reason laptops, PDA's and cell phones don't get all scrambled.
